MEDICO-CniRURGICAL.
This Society was instituted in 1844, for the pur-
pose of receiving coajumnications on Medicine and
Surger}', and the collateral sciences^— of conversing
on medical topics, and of promoting professional irn-
provemezit by any means that might from time to
time be approved of. Each session of the Society
commences on the second Tuesday of March, and
continues for eight months. The meetings take
place in the Hall of the Facultj' of Physicians and
Surgeons, St. Enoch Square.

The object of the Art Union of Glasgow is, brieflj',
to aid in extending amongst the community a know-
ledge of the Fine Arts, by the purchase and dissemi-
nation amongst the members of the meritorious
works. A Subscription of One Guinea constitutes
Membership for one j'ear. The whole Subscriptions,
after deducting the necessary expenses, are devoted
to the purchase of Pictures, Drawings, Sculptures,
Engravings, and other Works of Art.

The object of this Association is to promote the
knowledge and love of the Fine Arts and their gene-
ral advancement by an extensive distribution of
the Works of Living Artists, and to eievate Art and
its Professors, by creating an increased desire for
their AVorks, and an improved tasteon the part of
the Public. The funds are appropriated to the
purchase of Works of Art, which are annually dis-
tributed by Lot. Subscriptions, 10s. Gd. each..
