RETURN OF FIRE INSURANCE DUTY FOR THE YEAR 1862.

As ill previous years, tliis Return continues to afford indisputable evidence of the remarkable progress
made by "The Qukkn Insuiiance Compaxv," and furnishes another proof of the high estimation
in whicli the Company is held by the Insuring Public.
Taking the Offices which had been in operation for two full years at the date to which the Return
i-i mads up — the 25th December,. 18G2 — and comparing the amount of Daty collected in 1862 with
tliat of l8ol, •' The Quees " stands thiud ox the list op Offices showistg an increase.
Kxcluding the new Oifices formed in 1861, owing to their not having been at work for the whole
period embraced in the comparison, the Return shows that " The Queen" was only exceeded in tho
iaerease of Duty of 1862 over 1861 by the other two Liverpaol Offices, both of which were in full
operation for many years before the for.nation of " The Queen."

The eminaiit position thus occupied by the Queen Insurance Company is doubtless owing to
the high Commercial character of its proprietary, and the distinguished liberaUty of the Directors in
the Settlement of Losses. Gratified by the remarkable confidence hitherto reposed in The Queen, it
wid be the constant endeavour of the management to sustain the High Reputation the Company has
already obtained.
