MITCHELL'S MORTIFICATION.
The Lord Provost and Magistrates, patrons.
This charitable fund was bequeathed by William
Mitchell, a native of Glasgow, who died in London,
1729. The patronage is now vested in the Magis-
trates of Glasgow. The annual accumulation from
the mortification, amounting to £113. 17s. 9d., is
disbursed in sums not exceeding £10 to decayed
burgesses and guild brothers, their widows, and
unmarried females, whose fathers were merchants
and guild brothers.
