This Union was formed in 1855, by the amal-
gamation of the Glasgow Musical Association,
instituted in 1843, and the Glasgow Harmonic
Society, instituted in 1850. The Practisings are
held every Wednesday evening, at a quarter past
eight o'clock, in the Jerusalem Temple, No. 61
Cathedral Street. Gentlemen Members pay an
annual subscription of os., can be admitted at any
time, and their tickets are in force for one twelve-
month from date of entrj% Honorary Members pay
an annual subscription of One Guinea, which entitles
them to two reserved-seat tickets at all Concerts
of the Union, and admission to all Practisings and
Rehearsals. A Concert is given every New-Year's-
Day morning in the City Hall, and other Concerts
during the Season.
Subjects of Study for Session 1856-7: — Mendel-
sohnn's " St. Paul" and " Lobgesang ;" Haydn's
" Creation ;" Handel's " Messiah."
GESANGVEREIN.
The Gesaugverein is composed of Gentlemen
Members only of the Glasgow Choral Union, and
meets every Wednesday evening during summer
for the study of German part-songs, in the Temple,
61 Cathedral Street.
