HOUSE OF REFUGE.
This Institution was opened in February, 1838. Its declared object
is the prevention of juvenile delinquency. It is confined exclusively
to boys charged with, or convicted ofj crime. These unfortunates are
taken into the House, where they acquire a good plain education,
industrious habits, and the knowledge of a trade.
