"The PARLIAMENTARY RETURN of the INSURANCi: DUTY paid in 186.5
has just been published, and is tlie last Return which will embody the Differential Rates,
on Stock (Is. 6(1. per cent.), and on Buildings and Furniture (3s. per cent.)
"For the purpose of comparing the business of each Company in 18G5 with that in
1864, we have made up an account for the Two Years as though the duty had remained at
3s. per cent. We thus get a measure of the progress of eacli Company, and the result is
as follows: —
