The Directors refer with satisfaction to the strong evidence of confidence in this Institution,
indicated in the progressive Business which they have had the pleasure of transacting, and invite
further proposals in either Department, assuring the Public that Policies are issued on terms as lo7u
as is consistent loith safety.
That the engagements of the Company will be fully earned out there is ample security in
the large Capital and wealthy Proprietary, THE LATTER, including the Directors, CONSISTING
OF OVER Five Hundred Shareholders.
In the Constitution of the Board of Management, the character of its present Members, and the
qualifications that will be deemed indispensable in those who succeed them, there is every guarantee:
1.— That strenuous endeavours will be made to facilitate the despatch of business, and give satisfaction to all
with whom it may have dealings.
2.— That promptitude and fairness in meeting all just demands wOl be distinguisMng features in the operations
of the Company.
FIRE DEPARTMENT,
The Company Insures Houses, Manufactories, Rents, Furniture, Goods and Merchandise,
Farming Stock, and Shipping in Port or Dock or whilst Building, from Loss and Damage by
Fire, upon Liberal Terms.
The Premimns on Ordinary Classes of Insurance on Property in the United Kingdotn are —
Common Insurances, - - - - Is. 6d.. per Cent.
* Hazardous Insurances, - - - 2s. 6d.
Doubly Hazardous Insurances, - - 4s. 6d. „
Special Insurances. — Under this head are embraced aU kinds of hazardous Manufac-
tories and Mills, Chemical Works, Sugar and Oil Refineries, &c., which are rated according to
the circumstances of each particular case.
Policies Transfen-ed from other Offices without additional cost or trouble to the Assured.
Insurances effected for Seven Years by One Payment will be charged for Six Years only.
Property burnt by Lightning paid for.
Claims arising firom Explosion of Gas in buildings on which the Company have Insurances
will be admitted.
Surveys of risks proposed for Insurance made free from Expense to Applicant.
Liability during the days of grace unquestioned. No Charge made for Policy.
Short Period Policies, to cover tempoi-ary risks, at proportionate Premiums. All the
advantages of the Reduced Duty given.
Rent. — Insurances may be effected to protect parties from the loss of Rent during the
reinstatement of Property destroyed, or rendered untenantable by Fire.
Endorsements. — No charge made for Removals, or other alterations by Endorsement,
where the danger of Fire is not increased.
LIFE DEPARTMENT.
The advantages of Life Insurance in making immediate pro%asion for a family or depen-
dant in case of death; in prepaiing for various contingencies m connection with money transacrions
or property matteis; or in the ready means it affords- of pro\-iding for old age, are now universally
admitted, and all classes sanction its use by their example. The Directors, in submitting the
Claims of this Company for support, would state that in the Policies issued by them there is : —
1. — No liability of Partnership entailed.
2.— A Contract that will be faithfully met— the whole Proprietary being liable to make it good.
3. — A simple Document of its kind, free from dubious clauses.
4. — A stipulation to pay the sum assured one month after the proof of claim is admitted.
The Life Funds are kept m eveiy way distinct from those of the Fire Branch, and the ex-
penses of management bemg apportioned so that the Life Department has only a fair share of them,
there is a certainty that the Participating Policies will receive valuable additions from time to time.
The Rates of Premium, as given in the Tables, have been calculated with care, and will be
found moderate and equitable.
The Payments may be made Annually, Half- Yearly, or Quarterly.
Short Period Insurances can be effected on satisfactoiy terms.
The Premiums may be paid w-ithin a defined number of years, at the end of which the
Policies wiU be clear of all charge.
The Amount insured can be received during lifetime, on attaining the age of 50, 55, 60, or 65.
The Days of Grace are thirty for yearly payments; and during that time the Company
will be liable, provided the premium be paid before they expire.
ANNUITIES ARE GRANTED ON FAVOURABLE TERMS.
