THE COMPANY was established in the j^ear 1837, for the transaction of all varieties of Life and
Five Assurance Business. Its subscribed Capital is £1,000,000 sterling, held in Ten Thousand
Shares by a numerous and wealthy Proprietary widely scattered throughout England and Scotland.
THE COMPANY has obtained two special Acts of Parliament, conferring on it various powers
and privileges ; and is one of those approved of by the Postmaster-General for the Assm-ance of the
Lives of the Post-Office Officials.
THE PiAPID PKOGKESS of the Company is seen in the fact that the New Life Business of the
last quinquennial period, which closed on the olst of December 1862, was 148 per cent, more than
that of the preceding similar term ; while the Fire Premiums were 185 per cent. more.
THE BUSINESS of the Company, both Life and Fire, is largely increasing year by year.
THE NEW LIFE BUSINESS of the last Theee Years is as follows :

In 1866, ,, 230,000, „ 7000
ALL CLAIMS are settled with liberality and the utmost promptitude, in order that the full benefit
of the assistance and relief which Assurance is designed to afford should be secured to Assurers or
their representatives.
THE LAEGE CAPITAL of the Company, the whole of which is available to meet Claims, an
the Eeserve Fund in hand, are guarantees of perfect security to Policyholdei-s, who are in no wa;
involved in the mutual liabilities of Partnership.
A CASH BONUS of 22 peu cent., equivalent to a Eeveksionary Bonus of from 30 to 60 per!
CENT., accordins; to the age of the Assured, was declared at the last Division of Profits.
THE PEEMIUMS charged by this Company will contrast favourably with those of other OflSces
LOANS from £50 to £1000 are granted by the Company on Personal Security, and the assigna-
tion of a Life Policy to be effected with the Company.
POLICIES issued on the CEEDIT SYSTEM, in the case of Assurances for the whole of Life
for £250 and upwards. Half the Premium for five years, or one-thii-d for the Whole of Life, may
remain as a Debt on the Policv.
