Scottish Amicabie Life Assurance Society — Continued.
surers, and experience having- convinced the public of their perfect security, they now fully
appreciate the advantages of securing to themselves the whole profits to be derived from a safe
and prosperous business.
Great care is exercised by the Directors of this Society in the selection of Lives — in the
safe investment of the funds, and the economy of its management. This combined with the
principle of the distribution of its surplus funds, has secured to the Society a rapid advance-
ment in the estimation of the public, and promises to its members the utmost advantages
which Life Assurance can procure.
At the investigation into its affairs in 1832, the Society declared a bonus on Policies of
seven years' standing of 10^ per cent on the sum assured, (and so in proportion to the duration
of the Policies) being from 24 to 72 per centpe?' annum on the premiums paid.
Persons assuring before the end of the year will ha've the benefit of a whole year's standing
at the approaching investigation.
