This Incorporation divides, Septennially, the whole Profits amongst the Insured, who are guaranteed from
responsibility. A return of nine per cent was made on the Premiums received from Candlemas 1825 to
Candlemas 1832 ; and this, notwithstanding a more than average amount of Losses during that period.
The business of the Society has been gradually and steadily increasing since the adoption of the present
system of dividing the Profits ; and as the Losses during the current Seven Years will not, in all probability,
be above an average, the Assured have reason to anticipate a still more favourable result at the next investi-
gation.
All Town Risks of the First Class, Dwelling- Houses situated in the country, and Farm Steadings, are
taken as common insurances at Is. 6d. per cent. At the same rate of Premium, the Stock and Crop on
any part of a Farm may be insured in one sum, without the average clause ; and if preferred, the sum insured
may be allowed to decrease monthly or quarterly, whereby a considerable saving is effected by the Insured.
