Profits.
Nine-tenths, or in other words, the zvhole oj the Profits aris-
ing from the Life Business, after setting aside one-tenth to the
Shareholders of the Company for their guareintee, are divided
among the Assured in the participating classes.
At the last Investigation in 1858, the Surplus amounted
to the large sum of ^^ 13 6,000.
This allowed a Bonus on the sums Assured var}'ing from
^i : 5s. to ;^i : I 5s. per cent per annum, according to the dura-
tion of the Policy.
Application of Bonus.
The Assured have the option of applying their Bonuses in
either of the following ways —
1. To be added to the Sum Assured — and payable with the sum in
the Policy.
2. To surrender them for an immediate pa}Tnent in Cash.
3. To the reduction and ultimate extinction of the future premiums.
