lives — one of them embracing assurances for short periods,
and for all the other usual contingencies of life assurance;
thereby combining, as far as is practicable, every advan-
tage which is to be found in the various systems of life in-
surance hitherto offered to the public.
By one of these plans, the assured do not become part-
ners, but have the benefit of a reduced scale of premiums,
calculated at the lowest rate at which such risks can be
safely undertaken. By the other plan, assurers for the
whole duration of life are entitled to participate, to the ex-
tent of two- thirds, in the profits of the Office, and are gua-
ranteed from all responsibility by the capital of the Corpo-
ration.
The following extract from the Company's Tables of
Rates shows the premium exacted for the assurance of
precise sums.
Annual Premiums for the Assurance of £,\0\) on a single
Life.
The Policies of this Office, when sold or transferred in
security of Loans, are placed on the same footing in every re-
spect as if the Insurance had been effected by the onerous
holder himself.
A Board of Directors sits every Monday and Thursday,
to decide upon Proposals.
,*, iN^o Entrance Money is charged, and no charge is
made for Policies beyond the Policy- Stamp.
FIRE DEPARTMENT.
Property of every description is insured against loss or
damage by fire, at the usual rates of premium, correspond-
ing to the risk. Loss or damage by liglitning is made good.
Farm stocking is insured without the average clause, on a
plan which saves the farmer from 20 to 25 percent.
The Company's Tables of Rates, or other information,
may be had at the Office in Edinburgh, or by applying to
any of the agents in the principal towns of Scotland, and
the North of England.
