npniS Company was established in 1823, and is constituted by Act of Parliament, for the pur-
-"- pose of carrying on the business of Life Assurance in all its branches, on the most approved
principles, combining the advantages of a !!\Iutual Assurance Society with the security of a subscribed
capital. While the Assured have the right of participating septennially in the profits of the whole
business of the Company, to the extent oi four-fifths, they are exempted from all risk and responsibility
by a subscribed capital of Half a ^Million, guaranteed by a large and influential body of Proprietors.
At the first periodical investigation, a Bonus was added to the Policies which had been in existence
for five years, entitled to participate, varjing in amount from 20 to 38 per cent on the Premiums
paid, according to the particular circumstance of each individual Insurance.
The subjoined Tables of Rates, upon examination, will be found to hold out very advantageous
terms to persons effecting Insurances with the Company ; and it will be seen, that those who do not
wish to participate in the profits, have the option of assuring at a lower rate of premium, without
participation.
Insurances are effected on Joint Lives, and on Survivorships, and in any other way that the interest
or convenience of parties may require, upon terms equally advantageous to insurers.
No charge is made for Entrance Jloney, nor for Policies beyond the amount of the stamp.
Twent)'-one days allowed for payment of Premiums. Losses paid three months after proof of death.
A liberal price is given for Policies which are to be discontinued.
The Company's business is uniformly conducted on the most liberal and equitable principles, and
with strictest secrecy. A prospectus, containing full Tables, and every other information, may be had
gratis, at the Office in Edinburgh, or from any of the Company's Agents.
