6to, That the stances for the coaches shall be as
follows: — Princes' street east end, Princes' street
west end, Tron Church, College, George's street be-
tween south and north Frederick street, and west end
of York place, or at such other places as the Magis-
trates from time to time may appoint.
Imoy Coachmen are not on any account to plead
prior engagements when their services are required,
nor shall they be allowed to draw to one side of the
stand under pretence of being engaged, so as to have
the pick of work, but their coaches being on, or near
the stand, to be considered a proof of their being
disengaged.
Svo, That upon failure of performing any engage-
ment undertaken by any of the owners of hackney-
coaches or their coachmen, they shall be liable in a
penalty of ten shillings, and also forfeit any claim
for hire, for having performed part of the engage-
ment only.
9tio, That no fares higher than those in the prefix-
ed table shall be demanded or taken ; and if any
coachmen shall be convicted of imposing on his em-
ployers, or abstracting the fares from his master, he
shall be punished with severity ; and every coach-
man shall have in his pocket a printed copy of these
regulations and annexed tables on a piece of parch-
ment to be kept in a tin-box, with the number of
the coach painted on it, to be in possession of the
coachman at all times when on duty, and which
must be shewn to every employer when demanded,
under a penalty not exceeding five shillings.
10mo, That any coachman on misbehaviour, by a-
busive language or otherwise, upon being convicted
thereof, the Magistrates may revoke his licence, or
