Advert showing a man in a suit seated on a chair

You can find this advertisement for 'the best rock in the three kingdoms' in the 'Forfar directory and year book' for 1909.

Peter Reid (1803-1897), son of a Forfar grocer, created this world famous 'Peter Reid Rock' or 'Forfar Rock' which made him a rich man.

Reid spent a good part of his fortune on gifts to the town of Forfar, including the Reid Hall which opened in 1871, a ward at Forfar's infirmary, and a public park, now known as Reid Park.
