Notes

One of only two recorded copies (the other held in Canada) of the first century Roman poet's Epistolae heroi¨dum. The Heroides take the form of letters addressed by famous mythological characters to their partners expressing their emotions at being separated from them, pleas for their return, and allusions to their future actions within their own mythology. Despite acting as printer for the Jacobites in Perth during the rising of 1715, Freebairn was able to return to Edinburgh and continue a successful career as a printer and bookseller.
