First edition of the first biography of John Paul Jones, famous naval commander of the American Revolutionary War, who was born at Arbigland, Kirkcudbrightshire in 1747. After emigrating to America he forged a career in the Continental Navy and earned the reputation of a pirate in Britain. He is often considered one of the fathers of the American Navy. |
