VIII.— Engineer Officers.
1. RNGIKBER VlOB ADMIRALS and Enqinbbr Rbab-
(a) To be retired at the age of 60, and to have the
option of retiring at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty.
'(*>) To be retired at any age at the discretion of the
Admiralty, If found physically unfit to serve.
(o) Engineer Bear-Admirals to be retired at any age
as soon as 31 years have elapsed since their last ser-
vice as Engineer Rear- Admiral, or, If they have not
thns served, upon the expiration of 3J years from date
of promotion, or e years since their last service as
Engineer Captain.
(d) Engineer Rear- Admirals to be retiredon pro-
motion to that rank when desirable in the interests
of the Service.
3, ENGINEER CAPTAINS.
(a) To be retired at the age of 66, and to have the
option of retiring at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty.
(6 To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
(o) To be retired at any age so soon as three years
have elapsed since their last service as Engineer
Captain, or If they have not thus served, upon the
expiration of three years from date of promotion.

To be retired at the following ages : —
Engineer Commander 60
Engineer Lieutenant-Commander 46
Engineer Lieutenant 46
(b) To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
(o) Engineer Commanders to have the option of
retiring at any age, at the discretion of the Admiralty.
(d Engineer Commanders who retire after 27 years'
meritorious service on full pay may, at the discretion
of the Admiralty, be granted the rank of Engineer
Captain,
(e) Engineer Lieutenant-Commanders and En-
gineer Lieutenants to have the option of retiring at
the age of 40, at the discretion of the Admiralty.
(/) To be retired at any age, so soon as three years
have elapsed since their last service in their existing
rank, or if they have not thus served, upon the ex-
piration of three years fron? date of promotion.
4. Enginbbb Lieutenants Pbomotbd pbom Com
missioned ob othbb engineers under
Order in Council op 28th March, 1903.
(a) To be retired at the age of 8B. Voluntary retire-
ment may, however, be allowed from th age of 40, at
the .discretion of the Admiralty.
(6) Tp be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.

(a) To be retired at age of 65, Voluntary retirement
may, however, be allowed at the discretion of the
Admiralty from the age of 50.
lb) To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
(o) Any such Officer who may be subsequently d-
vanced to the list of Engineer Lieutenant Commanders
to come under all the regulations for Officers on that
list, subject to the proviso that his retired pay hall
not be less than the amount he would have obtained
if he had remained in the junior rank unti his
retirement.
IX.— Chaplains.
Chaplain op thb Flbbt.
1. The rank and title of Chaplain of the Fleet to be
retained on retirement.
Retirement to be compulsory on attaining the age
of 60, or if physically unfit, or on supersession from
the position of Chaplain of the Fleet.
Chaplains
(Including Chaplains and Naval Instructor*.)
2. To be retired at the age of 60. Only selected
Chaplains to remain after 60, and these are to be
retired at 66, and to have the option of retiring at
the age of 40, at the discretion of the Admiralty.
(6) The new ages for compulsory retirement to be
worked down to as follows :—
On and after 1st January, 1920. 58.
.. .. .. 1921. 66.

„ n ii 1923. 52.
.. it ii 1924. 60.
From 1st January, 1922. Chaplains selected for
retention beyond the normal age of retirement
given above to retire at 66.
3. To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
4. To be retired at any age bo soon as five years, or
in the case of Chaplains entered subsequent to the
29th January, 1900, so soon as three years have elapsed
since their last service.
6. Any Chaplain entered after 29th January, 1900,
whose conduct of his clerical duties may be unsatis-
factory during the first 12 years of his service, to be
retired, at the discretion of the Admiralty, with a
gratuity according to the scale provided In the Regu-
lations.
6. Any Chaplain who obtains from the Admiralty
permission to accept a living, or desires to retire from
His Majesty's Service, may, provided that he has net
less than 10 years service, be retired with pay on the
scale provided in the Regulations,!
