PENSIONS TO SEAMEN.
The following information, extracted from the Regulations as to Pensions, is pub-
lished for information, but it must be understood that all pensions, &c.,ar^ given at
r.r,e discretion of tbf Admiralty, or, in the case of Disablement or Injury Pennons,
of the Minister of Pensions, and that no man has any right to pension on
account of apparent eligibility under the rules herein published.
NAVAL PENSIONS.
n Iiong Service Pensions are granted to Continuous
Service Men alter 22 years'aervice from the age of 18;
to Non-Continuous Service Men after 22 years' service
from the age of 20.
The following scale is adopted in awarding the
ordinary Amount ol Long Service Pensions to Petty
Officers and Seamen ol the Fleet :—

Continuous Engagement
Where a man has received an injury on duty not
Incapacitating him for service, a small addition can
be made to his long-service pension, or a gratuity
may be awarded.
The time during which a man may have borne an
indifferent or bad character is forfeited.
Men discharged the service on account ol injuries
and wounds (except rupture) attributable to the
service receive pensions either lorlile or for a limited
period, at the discretion of the Admiralty, according

Petty Officers, provided they shall have served lor
one continuous period of not less than ten teabs,
and shall be discharged to pension Irom continuous
service with the rating of Petty Officers, or with a

The usual allowance lor Petty Time is given in
addition to the above rates, and is doubled lor such
time when served with very good character in the
ease ol Continuous Service men holding Petty
Officers ratings, irrespective ol the length ol their
continuous service.
The allowances lor Badges and Medal are al^o
given as in the ease ol Long Service Pensions.
Men discharged lor rupture attributable to the
Service are pensioned on the following scale ;—

The usual allowances lor Petty Time, Badges and
Medal are given as in injury cases. <
Seamen discharged the Service on account ol
injury received or disease contracted directly on
account ol service during the present War receive
Pensions according to the following scale, either from
the 1st March, 1916, or from the date ol discharge
if later: -
Having lost two limbs or the
sight of both eyes, or otherwise I
so severely incapacitated as to be >25s. a week
totally disabled Irom earning his f
living
For less injury than the foregoing and not totally
disabled Irom earning his living, such a pension as
will, with the wages he may be deemed capable,ol
earning, amount to 25s. a week, and not in any case
less than 10s. 6d. a week if having lost the sight of
an eye, or les° than shown in the following scale if
having lost a leg or arm :—

The allowances for Badges, Medal and Petty Time
are given as in the case of Long Service Pensions in
addition to the above rates.
Additions are made at the rate of 2s. 6d. a week for
each child, born before date ol discharge, or within
six months ol date ol dis> harse. uni il age 16 in the
case ol total disablementand at a rate not exceedin
2s. 6d. a week in case ol partial disablement.
II more lavourable than the above scale the
pension allowance under the preceding scale may
