NAVAL AND GREENWICH HOSPITAL PENSIONS (OFFICERS).
Naval and Greenwich Hospital Pensions are estab-
lished for the purpose ot affording relief to Retired
Officers ; and are awarded to such Retired Officers
as may be, in the opinion of the Admiralty, most
deserving:, provided they have served the periods of
Commissioned or Warranted Time afloat, laid down
in Article 1928 of the King's Regulations and Ad-
miralty Instructions.
Officers who have received severe wounds inaction
or disabling hurts on actual service, or Officers re-
tired for physical unfitness which arose in, and is
directly due to the Service, are exempt from the
rules respecting time of service.
The following tables show the number of Pensions
established for Commissioned Officers, Chief War-
rant < >fflcers, Warrant Officers, and Chief Officers of
Coast Guard:—

Marines are as follows:—

TRAVERS PENSIONS.
At the Court at Windsor,
The 3rd day of March, 1894.
Present,
The Ul'EEN'S most Excellent Majesty in Council.
Whereas there was this day read at the Board a
Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords
Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 23rd day
ot February, 1894, in the words following, viz.:—
"Whereas by the Naval Knights of Windsor
Dissolution Act. 1892, it is enacted (among other
things) that the Admiraltv shall after deducting
the necessary and proper expenses of the manage-
ment of the property transferred to the Admiralty
by virtue of that Act, apply the income of the
property in granting such Pensions to Retired
Officers of the rank of Lieutenant in the Navy, or
to Officers of the Navy who have retired from the
Active List of Lieutenants with the rank of Com-
mander in the Navy, and under such conditions
as Your Majesty may from time to time by Order
in Council di rect, and that such Pensions shall
be distinguished as Travers Pensions :
" And whereas it appears to us that as funds
are now available it is desirable to establish such
Pensions :
" We would humbly beg leave to recommend
that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by
Yonr Order In Council to authorize us to establish
such number of Pensions of £75 per annum eaoi
as the available funds accruing from the income
of the property transferred to the Admiralty
under the said Act may admit of :
'"We further beg leave to recommend to Your
Majesty:—
"(1.) That the Pensions so established may
be awarded at our discretion to the Senior Pen-
sion holders on the Greenwich Hospital and
Naval Pension List who are retired Officers of
the rank of Lieutenant in the Navy, or Officers
of the Navy who have retired from the Active
List of Lieutenants with the rank of Com-
mander, or to such other Retired Officers e(
these ranks as may appear to us to be best
qualified to receive them, having regard to their
long and faithful services:
"(2.) That no Officer shall hold a Travers
Pension and a Greenwich Hospital or Navai
Pension at the same time :
"(3.) That such Pensions shall be known
as Travers Pensions."
HER MAJESTY, having taken the said Memorial
into consideration, was pleased, by and with the
advice of Her Privy Council, to approve of what la
therein proposed. And the Right Honourable the
Lords Commissioners of Che Admiralty are to give
the necessary directions herein accordingly.
