RETIREMENTS, &e.
VIII.— Engineer Officers.
1. Engiiteeb Vice -Admirals and Bkgineke Ksah-
admibais.
(<i.) To be roHrcd at the age of 60, ivnrt to have the
option of retiring at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty.
(6) To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
(c) Engineer Eear-Adniirals to be retired at any age
as soon as 83 years have elapsed since their last ser-
vice as Engineer Eear-Admiral, or, if they have not
tlius served, upon the expiration of 3j years from date
of promotion, or 5 years since their last service as
Engineer Captain.
2. Enqinkke Captains.
(at T be retired at the age of 56, and to have the
option of retiring at any age. at the discretion of the
Admiralty.
(l>) To be retired at any age, at the discretion ot the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
(c) To be retired at any age so soon as three years
have elapsed since their last service as Engineer
Captain, or if they have not thus served, upon the
expiration of three ears from date of promotion.
ENGINEER Commanders. Engineer Lieutenant-
Commanders AND Engineer Lieutenants.
(a) To be retired at the following ages :—
Engineer Commander 60
Engineer L'euoenant-Commander 45
Engineer Lieutenant 45
(b) To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
(0) Engineer Commanders to have the option of
retiring at any age, at the discretion of the Admiralty.
(d) Engineer Commanders who retire afterS" years'
meritorious service on full pay may, at the discretion
of the Admiralty, be granted the rank of Engineer
Captain.
(e) Eneineer Lieutenant-Commanders and En-
gineer Jjieutenants to have the option of retiring at
the age of 40, at the discretion of the Admiralty.
(/) To be retired at any age, so soon as three years
have elapsed since their last service in their existing
rauli, or it they have not thus served, upon the ex
piration of three years from date of promotion.
4. Engineer Lieutenants Promoted from Chiee
OR other Abtificee Bnctneees under
Order in Council or SRia March, 1903.
(a) To ho retired at the age of 55. Voluntary retire-
ment may, however, he allowed from the age of 40,
the discretion of the Admiralty.
(6) To be retired at any .^ge, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
5. Engineer Lieutenants promoted from Chief
OR other Artificer Engineers for acts of
Gallantry or Daring.
(a) To be retired at age of 55. Voluntary retirement
may, however, be allowed at the discretion of the
Admiralty from the age of 50.
(61 To be retired at any age, at the discretion of 1-he
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
(0) Any such Officer who may be subsequently ad-
vanced to the list of Engineer Lieutenant Commanders
to come under all the regulations for Officers on that
list, subject to the proviso that his retired pay hall
not be less than the amoimt he would have obtained
if he had remained in tlie junior rauU until hia
retirement.
IX.— Chaplains
Chaplain op the Fleet.
Retirement to be compulsoi-y on attaining the age
of 60, or it physically unfit, or on supersession from
the position of Chaplain of the Fleet.
Chaplains.
(.Including Chaplains and Naval Instmctors.)
2. To be retired at the age of 60, and to have the
option of retiring at the age of 55, at the discretion of
the Admiralty.
3. To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, if found physically unfit to serve.
4. To be retired at any age so soon as five years, or
in the ease of Chaplains entered subsequent to the
29th J anuary, 1900, so soon as three years have elapsed
since their last service.
5. Any Chaplain entered after 29th January, 1900,
whose conduct of his clerical duties may be unsatis-
factory during the first 12 years of his service, to be
retired, at the discretion of the Admiralty, with a
gratuity according to the scale provided in the Regu-
lations.
6. Any Chaplain who obtains from the Admiralty
permission to accept a living, or desires to retire froiii
His Majesty's Service, may, provided that he has not
less than 10 years' service, be retired with pay ou the
scale provided in the Regulations.
