a. To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty if found physically unfit to serve.
3. To have the option of retiring at any age at the
discretion of the Admiralty.
4. (a) Commanders over 40 years of age to be
allowed on retirement lo receive, at their optioD,
either the active half-pay of that rantc or the retired
pay provided by the Regulations.
lb) Commanders under 40 years of age to receive on
retirement the active half pay they are entitled to at
the date of retirement.
5. Commanders retired from that rank may,' by
Admiralty permission rise one step in ranK, If, before
retirement, they had served the time to qualify them
for promotion : if not so qualifled for promotion they
may be allowed, at the discretion of the Admiralty, to
aisame the rank of Retired Captain on attaining
18 years' seniority irrespective of qualifying service.
6. In the case of Officers jiromoted to the rank of
Commander on the Active List after 19th March, 1908,
Commanders retired from that nmk may be granted the
rank of Retired Captain, at the discretion of the
Admiralty, provided they have served the time to
qualify them for promotion ; but such step will not be
given before they attain the age of 45.

2. To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the

4. Officers who have not reached the optional
age may, at the discretion of the Admiralty, be
allowed lo retire voluntarily when the state of the
list admits of such rftiremcuta ; subject to the
rostriction that no Officer shall be allowed to
retire before reaching i he rank o Lieutenant-Oo m-
mander.
B. (a) Officers over 40 years of age to be allowed
on retirement lo receive, at their option, either the
active half pay they may have eHrnt'l by Service, or
the retired pay provided by the Regulations.
(6) Officers under 40 years of a^e to receive on
rstireuieut the active halt pay they have earned by
service.
8. Lieutenant -Oommandprs or Lieutenants retired
from those ranks may, by permission of the Admir-
alty, ri»c to ih^ ii),ai>. of Commaudur, if, before
retirement, tnej have served tne time to qualify

7. (a) To be retired at the age of 45, Voluntary re-
tirement may I however, be allowed from the age of 40,
at the discretion of the Admiralty,
(c) At the discretion of the Admiralty a Lieutenant-
Commander or Lieutenant on retirement may be
granted the rank of retired Commander,
Lieutenant-Commanders and Lieutenants promoted
FROM Chief ok other wunnek. Boatswains or
Signal Boatswains, Commissioned or Warrant
Telegraphists, for Acts of Gallantby oh Daring.
8. (a) To be retired at the age of 6S, or at any age it
five years have elapsed since they last served.
(6) To have the option of retiring at the age of 46
at the discretion of the Admiralty, provided they ha ve
completed 6 years' service as Lieutenant, or as soon
after attaining that age an they shall have completed
auch service,
(e) To be retired at any age, at the disorntion of
the Admiralty. If found physically unfit to serve.
((J) If retired under 40 years of age, to receive their
active half-pay, and if over 40 years of age, the rate of
retired pay under Sec VIII. of Order in Council of
32ud February 1870, to which their service may entitle
them, not exceeding 300J. per annum.

Boatswains oh Signal Boatswains under Order in
Council of 28th March, 1903.
9. (a) To be retired at the age of 65. Voluntary
retirement may, however, be allowed from the age of
40, at the discretion of the Admiralty.
(b) To be retired at any age, at the discretion of the
Admiralty if found physically unfit to serve.
