115. Naval Instructors entered after the 29th January 1900, to be eompulsorily retired
after 55 years of age.
116. Naval Instructors entered after the 29th January 1900 who are found to be inefficient
and unsuited for their special duties may he retired during the first 12 years of their
service on the following scale of gratuities :—

117. Chaplains entered after the 29th January, 1900, whose conduct of their clerical duties
may be unsatisfactory during the first 12 years of their service may he retired with
gratuities on a similar scale to that given .in paragraph 16 ; and the provision of Order
in Council of the 22nd February 1870, Sec. 16, CI. 1, which relates to retirement for
non-service, is modified by the substitution of 3 for 5 years.
For compulsory retirement of Inspectors and Deputy Inspectors-General at 6C years of
age and of other Medical Officers at 55 years of age see Circular No. 76, founded on Order in
Council of 1st April 1881.
ASSISTANT PAYMASTERS, CLERKS, AND ASSISTANT CLERKS.
1. Assistant Paymasters when physically unfit, may be granted retired pay on the
following scale, at the discretion of the Admiralty :—
Officers under three years' standing, 2s. 6d, a day.
Officers over three years' standing 3s. 6d. a day, with an additional 6d. a day for each
year of service up to 6s. a day.
Assistant Paymasters entered as Assistant Clerks in or after the year 1909, and retired at' the
age of 40 under Order in Council of 13 October, 1910, also receive retired pay on this scale.
Assistant Paymasters retired for misconduct may be awarded a gratuity, see " Retirements,"
p. 814, clause 5 (e).
2. Clerks and Assistant Clerks permanently disabled by the Service may be allowed
pensions, at the discretion of the Admiralty, either for life or for a limited period, of from
Is. a day to 2s. 6d. a day.
