176 Captain Huntley Nicholson served in the Peninsula with the 42nd from July 1813, to the end
of that war in 1814, including the battles of the Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, and Toulouse. Present at the
quelling of the mutiny at Bairackpore, in Dec. 1824. Served also in the Burmese war, inclilding the
engagements near Proine on the 20th, 25th, and 26th Nov. 1825.
177 Captain Nicholls served in the Peninsula with the 66th from Feb. 1810 to the end of that war
in 1814, including the battles of Busaco, Albuhera, Vittoria, Orthes, and Toulouse ; and the actions of
Arroyo de Molino, Garris, and Aire.
178 Captain North served in Holland and France with the 44th from Nov. 1813 to Feb. 1816.
179 Captain Charles O’Neill served in the Peninsula with the 83rd from 1809 to the end of that
war in 1814, including the following actions and sieges :—Talavera, Busaco, Oporto, Pombal, Leira,
Condeixa, Fleur-de-lis, Guarda, Sabugal, Fuentes d’Onor, Badajoz (2nd siege), Ciudad Rodrigo,
Badajoz (3rd siege, and severely wounded at the assault), Salamanca, Yittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle,
Nive, Sauveterre, Orthes, and Toulouse. Served also during the Kandian war in Ceylon.
180 Captain William O’Neill served as a volunteer with the 83rd from 1st Feb. 1812 to the 12th of
August following, when he was appointed to an ensigncy in that regiment, present with it at the battle
of Salamanca, capture of Madrid and the Retiro, retreat from Madrid and Salamanca, battle of Vittoria,
blockade of Pampeluna, battles of the Pyrenees (from 27 to 30th July),Nivelle, Nive, aud Orthes, actions
of Sauveterre, Vic Bigorre, and Tarbes, and battle of Toulouse, besides several affairs and skirmishes.
Served in Ceylon during the Kandian war in 1817, 18, and 19, and was the individual officer who
made the two Kandian chiefs together with many of their followers prisoners, which at once put an end
to that formidable rebellion, and for which he received the thanks, in general orders, of the Governor
and Commander-in-Chief Sir Robert Brownrigg, as also of the Duke of York.
181 Captain Ormsby served the campaign of 1815 with the 14th, and was present at the battle of
Waterloo and storming of Cambray, at which last he was slightly wounded. Served afterwards in the
F.ast Indies, and was present at the siege and capture of Hattras ; also in the Deccan campaign of
1817 and 18 •, and the siege and capture of Bhurtpore under Lord Combermere.
182 Captain Orr served in the Peninsula, with the 7th Fusiliers, from Feb. to Aug. 1811, and again
from April 1812 to the end of that war in 1814, including the siege of Badajoz in April and May, 1811,
battle of Albuhera (wounded in the left knee and elbow), action of Osma, battle of Vittoria, affair of
Roncesvalles, battles of Pampeluna, Nivelle, Orthes, and Toulouse.
183 Captain Packe served the campaign of 1815, with the 13th Dragoons, and was slightly
wounded at Waterloo.
184 Captain Stephen Parker served with the 69th in Holland, Flanders, and France, from Dec.
1813 to Dec. 1815, including the action at Merxem, bombardment of Antwerp, attack on Bergen-op-
zoom, battles of Quatre Bras and Waterloo, and three months on field service in India during the Pin-
darree war in 1818.
186 Captain Pemberton served in the Peninsula from Feb. 1814 to the end of that war.
187 Captain Phelan served in the Peninsula, and was wounded on three different occasions.
Served also in the American war.
188 Captain Phibbs served in the Peninsula, with the 27th, from Nov. 1813 to the end of that war
in 1814, including the battles of the Nivelle, Orthes, and Toulouse. Served afterwards in the Ameri¬
can war, and was present at the taking of Plattsburg. Lost his left arm, and was shat through both
legs at the battle of the Nivelle.
189 Captain R. F. Phillips served with the expedition to Walcheren in 1809 ; also the Peninsular
campaigns of 1812 and 13, including the siege of the forts of Salamanca, battles of Salamanca, Vit¬
toria, and the Pyrenees; siege of San Sebastian, and battle of Nivelle.
190 Captain Brooke Pigot served in Holland, Belgium, and France, from Dec. 1812 to Jan. 1816,
including both actions at Merxem, bombardment of the French fleet at Antwerp, and battle of Quatre
Bras, at which last he was severely wounded in the head.
191 Captain Pitman served in the Peninsula, with the 59th, from Sept. 1812 to the end of that war
in 1814, including the battle of Vittoria, and capture of San Sebastian. Campaign of 1815, including
the battle of Waterloo. Siege and capture of Bhurtpore.
192 Captain Poole served the campaigns of 1814 and 15, including the bombardment of the
French fleet at Antwerp, and the battle of Waterloo, where he was wounded.
193 Captain Power served in the Peninsula, and has received a medal for San Sebastian.
194 Captain Pringle served in the Peninsula from Jan. 1810 to the end of that war in 1814, includ¬
ing the battles of Nivelle and Nive (wounded), and investment of Bayonne. Served also the campaign
of 1815, and was severely wounded at Waterloo.
195 Captain Prior served in the Peninsula with the 11th Dragoons, and was present at the battle of
Salamanca, and various out-post affairs. Served also the campaign of 1815 ; commanded the skir¬
mishers of the I8th Hussars on the 17th June, and received the first fire of the French army on that
day ; present also at the battle of Waterloo and capture of Paris.
196 Captain Protheroe served with the 46th at the defence of Dominica, in 1805 ; and com¬
manded in Fort Young, which was cannonaded by five line-of-batlle ships, and three frigates, &c.,
for nine hours, and was most honourably mentioned in the despatches for distinguished gallantry on that
occasion.
197 Captain Rawlison served with the expedition to Egypt in 1807 ; at the taking of the island of
Zante, 1809 ; and at the siege of Santa Maura, 1810.
