I Sir Frederick Horn served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 ; commanded the Right Brigade 4th
Division at the battle of Alma; and the 20th Regiment at the battles of Balaklava (and recapture of the redoubt
“ Arab Tabia’* and guns from the Russians, which they had taken from the Turkish Force the same morning) and
Inkerman (twice wounded, and horse shot under him); present throughout the siege operations against Sebastopol,
and in the Trenches at the two assaults and the fall of the town ; at Inkerman he succeeded to the command of the
4th Division (Medal with four Clasps, CB., Officer of the Legion of Honor, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 3rd
Class of the Medjidie).
8 Major Preston and Captain Hayward served with the 45th Regiment in the Abyssinian campaign in 1868, and
were present at the storming and capture of Magdala (Medal).
4 Lt.Colonel Meredith served with the 41st Regiment the Eastern campaign of 1854 up to the 27th October in¬
cluding the battles of Alma and Inkerman (severely wounded), siege of Sebastopol, and repulse of the sortie of
26th October (Medal with three Clasps, Brevet of Major, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
® Captain Callwell served in Abyssinia in 1868 in the Commissariat Department, in Command of the Station at
Attala (Medal).
7 Captain Martin served with the 4th Regiment in Abyssinia in 1868 (Medal).
8 Captains Hooke and Lefroy, and Lieut. Skinner served in the Abyssinian campaign in 1868 (Medal).
II Captain Gage served in the Abyssinian campaign in 1868 as Adjutant 45th Regiment, and was present at the
storming and capture of Magdala (Medal).
12 Lieuts. Reeve, Lambard, and Wright served in the Abyssinian campaign in 1868, and were present at
the stonning and capture of Magdala (Medal).
13 Captain Banbury served in the campaign of 1842 in Affghanistan (Medal), including the forcing of the
Khyber, Jugdulluck, and Tezeen Passes; actions of Mamookhail, Tezeen, and Huft Kotul; attack and captuie of
Istokliff. The Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of Moodkee, Ferozeshah, and Sobraon (Medal and
two Clasps). The Crimean campaign from 27th Nov. 1854 to 13th April 1855, including siege of Sebastopol (Medal
with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
