26 Colonel Douglas served the campaign of 1842 in Affghanistan under General Pollock, and was present in every
action that took place on the advance and at the recapture of Cabool (mentioned in despatches, Medal). In March
1858 joined the Army under Sir Hugh Rose then besieging Jhansi, and was present at the assault, having taken a
gun down to the gate near which the right assaulting party attempted an escalade ; subsequently commanded the
Artillery of the Hyderabad Contingent and was present at the various affairs in which the Contingent was engaged
and those which preceded the capture of Calpee (Brevet of Major, Medal).
27 Major General Johnson served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of Ferozeshah and Sobraon
(Medal and Clasp). Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the Cheenab at Ramnuggur, and
battles of Chillianwallah and Goojerat; served on the staff with Sir Walter Gilbert’s force in the subsequent pursuit
of the Sikhs and Affghans (mentioned in despatch, Brevet of Major, Medal with two Clasps). Served during
Indian mutiny in 1857-58 as Assistant Adjutant General of Artillery, and was present at the actions of the Hindun
on the 30th and 31st May (slightly wounded, mentioned), battle of Budleekeserai, siege and capture of Delhi

29 Colonel de Teissier served in the Sutlej campaign in 1846, including the battle of Sobraon (Medal). Punjaub cam¬

35 Br.General Olpherts commanded four Guns on service in Burmah in 1841; and two Guns in action at Jhirna

Star). Raised and commanded Artillery of Bundlecund Legion in the Hill campaign in Sind under Sir Charles

Campbell in the Peshawur Valley in 1852 (Medal with Clasp). In Turkey and the Crimea in 1854-55-56. Com¬
manded three Guns, which, with Detachment of 10th Foot and a few Madras Fusiliers under General Neil (in
all 200 Europeans) routed three Native Regiments at Benares on 4th June 1857. Commanded a Battery with
Havelock’s Force in the actions at Bithoor (horse shot), Mungurwar, and Alumbagh, and first Relief of the Resi¬
dency at Lucknow ; acted as Brigadier of Artillery in defence of the Residency from 27th Sept, to i6thNov. 1857
(wounded, mentioned in despatches). Commanded a Battery at the Alumbagh from 22nd Nov. 1857 to 17th March
1858, and was present in all the engagements there during that period, also at the capture of Lucknow by Lord
Clyde (Brevets of Major and Lt.Colonel, CB., Victoria Cross, Medal with two Clasps). Commanded a Battery of
Horse Artillery in Oude in 1858. Served as a Volunteer with the Frontier Expedition against the Wuzeerees in
1859-60 under Sir N. Chamberlain.
86 Colonel Swinhoe served the campaign under Sir Charles Napier against Belochee hill tribes in Upper
Scinde in 1845. Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including siege and capture of Mooltan, and battle of Goojerat
(Medal with two Clasps).
Colonel Francis served in the Sutlej campaign in 1849, including the battle of Sobraon (Medal). Punjaub
campaign of 1848-49, including first and second siege operations before Mooltan, action of Soorajkoond, and battle of
Goojerat (mentioned in despatch, Medal with two Clasps). Has the 4th Class of the Medjidie for service with the
Turkish Contingent. Served at the Alumbagh in Feb. 1858, at the siege and fall of Lucknow, Rohilcund campaign,

46 Colonel Bruce served in the Gwalior campaign, and was present at the battle of Maharajpore (Bronze Star).

General Chamberlain in April 1855 (Medal). Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-59, including the relief of Lucknow
by Lord Clyde, battle of Cawnpore, action of Kalee Nuddee, and entry into Futtehghur, as Brigade Major of Horse
Artillery. Commanded a Battery of Horse Artillery with Brigadier Evelegh’s Column in the affairs of Mohun,
Hussaingunge, Meangunge, Morar Mow (charger killed), fort of Simree, Buxar Ghat, and subsequent operations
till the final suppression of the mutiny (six times mentioned in despatches, Brevets of Major and Lt.Colonel, Medal
with Clasp).
49 Colonel Henry H. Maxwell served the Gwalior campaign of 1843-44 and battle of Maharajpore (Bronze Star).
Sutlej campaign of 1845-46 as D.A.Q.M.General of Artillery, including battles of Moodkee, Ferozeshah, and
Sobraon (mentioned in despatch, Medal and two Clasps, Brevet of Major). Was present at the battle of Oltenitza
under Omar Pasha on the 4th Nov. 1853, ^n(I at' the Russian attacks on Kalafat in the winter of 1853-54. Did duty as
an Officer and Interpreter to the Naval Brigade under Sir Wm. Peel at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde (men¬
tioned), defeat of the Gwalior Contingent at Cawnpore, and action of Khodagunge—thigh bone broken by a musket
ball (Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp).
50 Colonel Light was present at Meerut on the outbreak of the mutiny there on the 10th May 1857. Marched in
command of two 18-pounders with Brigadier Wilson’s Force on 27th May and present at the actions of the 29th and
30th May on the Hindun (mentioned in despatches as having done “excellent service with his 18-pounders ”),
battle of Budle-ke-Serai (wounded), and siege of Delhi from 8th June to 16th September, when forced to leave irom
illness. Acted as Orderly Officer to Sir Thomas Seaton with his Force in the Dooab, and present at the actions of
Gungairee (mentioned), Puttialee, and Mynpooree—mentioned (Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major).
53 Colonel Russell served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46^ including the battles of Ferozeshah and Sobraon
(Medal and Clasp). Served under Brigadier Neill against the mutineers at Allahabad in 1857, and as Commissary
of Ordnance with the Army in Oude in 1858 (Brevet of Major, Medal).
55 Colonel Dundas served in the Sutlej campaign in 1846 and battle of Aliwal (Medal). Punjaub campaign of
1848-49, including battles of Chillianwallah (severely wounded) and Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps).
56 Colonel Angelo served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the defence of Ferozepore, and battles of
Ferozeshah and Sobraon (Medal and Clasp). Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the Chenab at
Ramnuggur, and battles of Sadoolapore, Chillianwallah, and Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps). Siege and capture

57 Colonel Newall served in the Sutlej campaign in 1846 and battle of Sobraon (Medal). Punjaub campaign of

Served as a volunteer in the expedition against the Wuzzeerees under Sir Neville Chamberlain in 1859-60. Served

58 Colonel Bunny served in the Sutlej campaign in 1846 and was present at the battle of Sobraon (Medal).

fortress, actions of 12th Sept, (wounded) and 7th Nov., on which last occasion when in command of two Horse Artillery
