War Services of ihe Lieutenants.
181 Lieut. Sawkins served in the Peninsula with the 50th and was present at the battles of
"V ittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, and Toulouse, for which he has received the War
Medal with six Clasps.
182 Lieut. Scobell served at the battle of the Nile (Medal), and in the Marine Battalion at
the capitulation ot St. Elmo, Capua, and Gaeta, in 1799.
183 Lieut. David Scott has received the War Medal with three Clasps for Egypt Martinique,
and Albuhera.
184 Lieut. Sedley served the Waterloo campaign with the Royal Staff Corps.
185 Lieut. Alexander Smith served in the actions in Algesiraz Bay and the Straits of Gib¬
raltar in 1801 ; at the reduction of St. Domingo in 1802 ; pursuit of Villeueuve to the West
Indies ; capture of the Spanish frigate “ Amfitrite,’’ and assisting disabled ships and prizes
after the battle of Trafalgar in 1805 ; commanded a detachment in the action off St. Domingo,
headed the Royal Marines at the boarding of the “ Jupiter” and hauled down the flag, 6i.h
Peb. 1806. Has the Silver War Medal with two Clasps.
186 Lieut. J. R. Smith served the Waterloo campaign with the 14th Foot.
187 Lieut. Ralph Smith served in the Peninsula with the 23rd and was present at the battles
of Yittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, and Toulouse, for which he has received the War
Medal with six Clasps.
188 Lieut. W. Smith (Royal Artillery Drivers) served at Walcheren, in 1809; and the cam¬
paigns of 1813 14, 15, in Holland, Belgium, and Prance, and was wounded at Merxem.
189 Lieut. William Smyth (h. p. Scots Pus. Gds.) served in the Peninsula with the 31st and
was present at the battles of Vittoria and the Pyrenees, for which he has received the War
Medal with two Clasps.
190 Lieut. Spaight served in the Peninsula and was present at the battles cf Nivelle and
Orthes, for which he has received the Silver War Medal with two Clasps.
191 Lieut. Sperling served the campaigns of 1814 and 15 in Holland and Planders, and led
the right column at the assault of Bergen-op-Zoom.
192 Lieut. Sproule served with the 69th at the capture of Java in 1811, for which he has
received the War Medal with one Clasp.
193 Lieut. Stacey served in the Peninsula with the 12th Lt. Dragoons and was present at the
battles of Victoria, Nivelle, and Nive, for which he has received the War Medal wilh three Claeps.
194 Lieut. Richard Stapleton served as a Volunteer at the defence of Cadiz.
195 Lieut. Staveley-Shirt served in the Peninsula with the 4tb and was present at the battles of
Corunna, Vittoria, Nivelle, and Nive, and at the siege of St. Sebastian, for which he has received
the War Medal with five Clasps.
196 Lieut. Stawell served in the Peninsula with the 48 th and was present a! the battles of Vit¬
toria, Pyrerees, Orthes, and Toulouse, for which he has the War Medal with four Clasps.
197 Lieut. Steele was wounded in the trenches before Sebastopol, 24th Oct. 1854, and served
with the R. M. Artillery during the whole of the operations there during that year; he was
also at the bombardment of the outer forts on 17th October. In 1855 he served in the siege
batteries until the fall of Sebastopol, and was wounded 12th April during the bombardment
mentioned in Dispatches); also present at the bombardment of Kinbourn (Medal and Clasp,
Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medal).
198 Lieut. Streets served with the 75th Regt. in the Indian campaign of 1857, and was pre¬
sent at the affairs with the S. alkote Mutineers on the banks of the Ravee on the 12th and 16th
July, also at the assault (severely wounded) and capture of Delhi (M»dal and Clasp).
199 Lieut. Stobart served in the American war under Sir Gordon Drummond.
200 Lieut. G. E. Stuart served in the Peninsula with the 61st and was present at the battles
of Busaco, Salamanca, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, Orthes, and Toulouse, for which he has received
the War Medal with seven Clasps.
201 Lieut. R. T. Stuart served the Waterloo campaign with the 28th Foot.
202f Lieut. Studdert served in (be Crimea in 1855, and on the expedition to Kinbourn (Medal,
and Turkish Medal). Served on the China expedition of 1857-58, including the blockade of the
Canton river, bombardment, storm and capture of the city (Medal and Clasp).
202 Lieut. Syret served in the Peninsula, with the 9th and was present at the siege of St. Sebas¬
tian, and battles of Vittoria, Nivelle, and Nive,for which hehas the War Medal with four Clasps.
203 Lieut. Tane has received the War Medal with one Clasp for Trafalgar.
204 Lieut. Benjamin Thompson served in the Peninsula with the 48th and was present at the
battles of Talavera, Albuhera, NDelle, and Onhes, and at the sieges of Ciudad Rodrigo and
Bidajoz, for which he has received the War Medal with six Clasps.
205 Lieut. R. K. Thompson served in the Peninsula with the 47th and was present at the batts.

206 Lieut. Thornton served in the Peninsula with the old 94th from Feb. 1810 to Feb. 1814,
including the defence of Cadiz from April to Sept. 1810, Lines of Torres Vedras, actions of
Redinha, Condeixa, and Sabugal; battle of Fuentes d’Onor, second siege of Badajoz, action
of El Bodon, siege of Ciudad Rodrigo, siege and assault of Badajoz, battle of Salamanca,
capture of Madrid, battles of Vittoria, the Pyrenees, and Nivelle, at which last he was danger¬
ously wounded through the neck by a musket-ball, which carried away the lower part of the ear.
He has receivi d die War Medal with seven C'asps.
207 Lieut. Tighe served the Waterloo campaign with the Grenadier Guards.
208 Lieut. Town served in the Peninsula and was present at the siege and storming of
Badajoz ^with the P rtuguese army), retreat from Burgos, battle of Vittoria. affair of Tolosa,
both sieges of San Sebastian, passage of the Bidassoa and carrying of the lofty mountains of the
