against the Hill Tribes near Peshawur in May 1852. Joined the Delhi Column under Brigadier
Hope Grant in Oct. 1857, and was present in the several skirmishes with the mutineers during
the advance into Oude. Served on the Staff at Head Quarters as Assist.Adj.General H.M.
forces in India from 10th Nov. 1857 to 5th Jan. 1858, and was present at the relief of Lucknow
by Lord Clyde, battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec., actions of Kalee Nuddee and occupation of
.Futtehghur (twice mentioned in despatches and thanked by the Governor General on both
occasions, Brevet of Major, Medal and Clasp).
107 Lt.-Colonel Fellowes served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 as D.A.Q.M.G., Cavalry
Division, including the affairs of Bulganak and Mackenzie’s Farm, battles of Alma, Balaklava,
Inkerman, and Tchernaya. and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, Sardinian
Medal, and 5th Class of the Medjidit).
108 Lt.Colonel Need served the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 as Aide de Camp to General
Whish, and was present during the whole of the siege operations against and capture of Mooltan;
after which he was at the battle of Goojerat (Medal and Clasps). Served with the Persian
expedition of 1857 (Medal). Also with the Central India field force under Sir Hugh Rose in
1858 and was present at the siege and capture of Eahutghur, relief of Saugor, capture of Gur-
rakota and pursuit across the Beas, forcing the Muddr-npoie Pass, siege and capture of Jhansi,
battles of Betwa and Kooncb, affairs during the advance on Calpee and action of Golowlee,
capture of Calpee and pursuit, action of Morar, action resulting in the r,-capture of the town
and fort of Gwalior, pursuit in 1858-59 and action of Ranode and pursuit of Tantia Topee (tour
times mentioned in the despatches, Brevets of Major and LLCol., Medal and Clasp).
109 Lt.Colonel Cureton served with the 10th Lancers in the action at Maharajpore 29 Dec.
1843 (Medal); and with the 3rd Light Dragoons during the campaign of 1845-6 on the Suihj;
including the battles of Moodkee (severely wounded) and Sobraon, for which he has received
a Medal and one Clasp; and served with the 12th Lancers in the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal).
Served with the 12th Lancers in the Crimea from 31 July 1855, at the siege and fall of Sebas¬
topol and at Eupatoria (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
110 Lt.Colonel Hon. G. Elliot was Aide de Camp to Sir Geo. Cathcart in the Kaffir war of
1852-53 (Medal); and he was also present at the battle of Berea. Served the Eastern campaign
of 1854-55 as D. A.Q.M.G. to the 4ch Division, including the battle of Alma and siege of Sebas¬
topol (Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the
Medjidie).
111 Lt.Colonel Rogers served in the Eastern campaign in 1855, in the trenches with the
Siege train before Sebastopol, and at the bombardments of April aud 6th and 17th June (Medal
and Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
112 Lt.Colonel C. F.T. Daniell served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 as Brigade Major in (.be
3rd Division, including the battles of Alma and [nkenuan, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and
attack of the 18th June (Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, Knight of the Legion of Honor, 5th
Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
113 Lt.Colonel Bayly served in the Eastern campaign of 1854 with the 30th Regt., including the
siege of Sebastopol, repulse of the sortie on 20th Oct. (wounded in the cheek), and battle of Inker-
man (severely wounded in the face and leg) (Medal and Clasps, 5th Cla-s of the Medjidie, and
Turkish Medal).
114 Lt.Colonel Greville served as Aide de Camp to Sir Harry Smith and to Sir George Catlicart
in the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal), and was present at the battle of Berea. Served again as
Aide de Camp to Sir George Cathcart in the Eastern campaign of 1854, including the battles
of Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman (where Sir George was killed), and siege of Sebastopol
(Medal and four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
115 Lt.Colonel Maclean served with the 49th Regt. throughout the war with China (Medal), and
was present at the first taking of Chusan, storm and capture of the heights above Canton, attack
and capture of Amoy, second capture of Chusan, attack and capture of the heights of Chinhae,
occupation of Ningpo and repulse of the night-attack, attack and capture of Chapoo, Woosung,
and Chin Kiang Foo.
110 Lt.Colonel Ruttledge served with the 17th Regt. throughout the campaign of 1838-39 in
Afghanistan and Beloochistan under Lord Keane, and was present at the storm and capture of
Ghuznee (Medal), and of Khelat. Also at the siege of Sebastopol from Dec. 1854 to Aug. 1855,
including the assault on the Redan on the 18th June (Medal and Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie,
and Turkish Medal).
117 Lt.Colonel Watson served with the 7th Fusiliers in the Eastern campaign of 1854, and
was seven ly wounded at the battle of Alma (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Mci^jidie, and
Turkish Medal).
118 Lt.Colonel Duncan Campbell served in the 83rd Regt. during the suppression of the insur¬
rection in Lower Canada in 1837; also in repulsing the attacks of the American brigands who
landed at Prescott, Upper Canada, in 1838. Served with the 90th Light Infantry at the siege ot
Sebastopol (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
119 Lt.Colonel Brookes served as Field Adjutant to the Troops on the first line of defence
during the Kaffir war of 1834-35 (Medal). Was Brigade Major to the force of Occupation in
the conquered province of Queen Adelaide from April to Dec. 1836; and District Adjutant at
Fort Beaufort from Jan. 1837 to Dec. 1842; received the special thanks of Sir George Napier
the Governor and Commander in Chief at the Cape of Good Hope in a letter dated 5th July
1839 for service in the field. Served during the Indian campaign of 1857-8 from the outbreak
on the 12th May, including the siege, storm, aud capture of Delhi (command of the 75th Regt.
during part of July, and again succeeded to its command on the glacis on the advance to the
assault, and later in the day to that of Nicholson’s column on that General being morlally
