81 a War Services of the Lieutenant Colonels.
81 Lt.Colonel MacGregor commanded the Light Company of the 10th in the early part of
the siege operations before Mooltan in 1848, including the repulse of the enemy’s night attack
upon the British camp at Muttce Thol, 17th August, and storming their strongly entrenched
position before Mooltan, 12lh September: severely wounded—left hand shattered by a musket
shot (Medal and Clasp).
89 Lt.Colonel Lucas, with the effective men of the wing of the 6th Ttegt. stationed at Aden,
formed part of an expedition of 500 men under the command of Lt.Colonel Pennycuick, which
destroyed the Arab posts of Sheik Medi and Sheik Othman,and skirmished between those places
on the Cth Oct. 1841.
90 Lt.Colonel Baynes served in the Crimea Trom Nov. 1854 as Captain in the Mounted
Staff Corps, and afterwards as Military Magistrate of the Army (Medal and Clasp, 5th Class of
the Mcdjidie, Turkish Medal, and Brevet of Major. Served in India during the Mutiny, and com¬
manded the force consisting of 2 guns Horse Artillery, 150 men of 8th Regt., and a detachment of
Punjaub Cavalry, which surprised the garrison and secured the fort and magazine of Phillour,
on tire Sutlej, 12th and 13th May 1857. Served with the 8th Rc-gt. at the siege of Delhi, and
was dangerously wounded at the assault of the city, leg amputated (Brevet of Lieut.Colonel,
Medal and Clasp).
92 Lt.Colonel be Teissier served in Scinde, in command of a detachment, protecting the
stores and ammunition of the army tracked up the Indus. Served also in the Light Company
of the IT^h during the campaign in Affghanistan and Beeloochistan, and was present at the
storm and capture of the fortresses of Ghuznee and Khelat, for which he has received the
Medal.
93 Lt Colonel Yonge served the Punjaub campaign of 1849, and was present during the
second siege operations at Median (including the siege and storm of the town and capture of the
citadel), hatilo of Goojerat, pursuit of the Sikh army until its final surrender at Rawul Pindee,
occupation of Attock and Peshawur, and expulsion of the Aff’ghan force beyond the Khyber Pass
(Medal and two Clasps).
94 Lt.Colone! Carey served with the 40ih Regt. throughout the operations in Candahar and
Affghanistan in 1841-42 (Medal). Served in the Crimea with the Turkish Contingent as
A.Q.M.General io a Division, and afterwards in command of a Brigade, for which he received
the Brevet of Major, 4th Class of the Medjidic, and Turkish Medal. As Deputy Adjutant
General in Australia, served with the force employed in New Zealand under General Pratt
during the Maori war of 1860-01 (CB.)
95 Lt.Colonel Todd served with the 4th Lt. Drs. throughout the campaign of 1838-39 in
Aft'ghanistan, including the siege and capture of Ghuznee ^Medal). Served with the 14th
Lt. Drs. throughout the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the action of Itamnuggur,
passage of the Chenab, battles of Chiliiauwallah and Goojerat (Medal and Clasps). Served as
Brigade Major of Cavalry with the Persian expedition of 1857 (Medal). Also as Brigade
Major to the 2d Brigade of the Central India field force under Sir Hugh Rose in 1858 and was
present at the siege and capture of Rahutghur, relief of Saugor, capture of Garrakota, forcing
the Muddtnpore pass, siege and capture of Jhansi, battles of Betw'a with Koonch and affairs
during the advance onCalpee and action of Golowlie ; also the action of Morar, recapture of
Gwalior and pursuit with action of Jowra Alipore : served as Assist. Adj. Gen. to the Gwalior
Division in pursuit of the Rebels and at the action of Ranode, also present at the capture of
the fort of Powrie (five times mentioned in despatches, Brevets of Major and Lt.Colone],
Medal and Clasp).
96 Lt.Colonel Follows was present with the 43rd Light Infantry in the attack on New
Orleans in January 1815. He landed with his Regt. at Ostend on the 18th June following, and
was present at the capture of Paris.
97 Lt.Colonel Hudson served with the 39th Regt. in the Crimea from 31st Dec. 1854, and
was present at the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and aitacks of 18ih June and 8th Sept. (Brevet of
Major, Medal and Clasp, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
99 Lt.Colonel Hillier acted as Aide de Campto Brigadier Cureton in the action of Maliarajpore,
29th Dec. 1843 (Modal); and served as Aide de Camp to the Governor Genera!, with the army
of the Sutlej, and was severely wounded in the action at Moodkee (Medal).
100 Lt.Colonel Hunt served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, includingthe battle of Alma
and sieee of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasp?, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
101 Lt.ColonelFarrer served with the 38th Regt in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,including
the battles of Alma and Inkerman and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and three Cla-ps, Brevet
of Major, Turkish Medal, and 5th Class of the Medjidie). Also in the Indian campaign of
1857-58, including the capture of Meeangunge, siege and capture of Lucknow, and affairs of
Barree and Nuggur (Medal and Clasp).
102 Lt.Colonel Gamble served with the 4th Regt. at the siege and fall of Sebastopol from May
1855 (Medul and Clasp, Brevet of Major, and Turkish Medal).
103 Lt.Colonel Taylor served the campaign of 1842 in Affghanistan (Medal); and that on
the Suthj (Medal), including the battles of Moodkee and Ferozeshah (severely wounded).
104 Lt.Colonel Shake^psar served the Eastern Campaign of 1854-55, including the affairs of
Bulganac and M Kenzie’s Farm, the battles of Alma, Balaklava (horse shot), and lokerman,
and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and
Turkish Medal).
106 Lt,Colonel Rudman served with the 62nd Regt. in the Sutlej campaign (Medal and
Clasp), including the battles of Ferozeshah and Sobraon, where he carried the Regimental
