1 Lord Hardinge served throughout the whole of the Peninsular war, nearly the whole of the time as Deputy Quarter
Master General of the Portuguese army, and was present at the battles of Roleia and Vimiera (wounded), retreat to, and
battle of Corunna, passage of the Douro, battle of llusaco, lines of Torres Vedras, battle of Albuhera, 1st and 2d sieges of Bada-
joz, siege and capture of Ciudad Rodrigo, 3d siege of Badajoz, battles of Salamanca, Vittoria (severely wounded), Pampe»
luna.the Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, and Orthes. Served also the campaign of 1815, and was severely wounded at Ligny, 16
June,—left hand amputated. As Governor General of India he was engaged in the battles of Moodkee, Ferozeshah, and
Sobraon. His lordship has received the gold cross and five clasps.
Schwarzenberg, in Germany. Served at the siege of Huninguen, and the campaign of 1814 in France, in¬
cluding the taking of Langres, thebattlesof La Rothiere and Brienne, capture of Troyes, affairs of Morman-
and Nangis, in front of Bray, defence of Troyes, when attacked by Bonaparte 23rd Feb.; battle of Bar-sur-
Aube, the subsequent affair upon the Barce, re-capture of Troyes, battles of Arcis-sur-Aube and of Fere
Champenoise, advance upon and battle of Paris, and capture of that city. As His Majesty’s Envoy Extraor¬
dinary and Minister Plenipotentiary at the Court of Tuscany, served with the Austrian army in the campaign
against Naples, in 1815, including the battles of Tolentino and Marcerata. Signed, in conjunction with
Field Marshal Bianchi, who commanded the Austrian army, the Military convention by which the kingdom
of Naples was restored to its Sovereign, King Ferdinand. His Lordship has received the War Medal and
four clasps for Roleia, Vimiera, Talavera, and Busaco.
