1 Lieut. General Haruerton served on the Continent under the Duke of York, in 1794. Embarked for the West Indies in
1795, and was at the capture of St. Lucia the following year. Served in Ejjypt in 1801. Commanded the 1st battalion of
the 4th regt. in Spain •, and the 2nd battalion in the campaign of 1815, and was wounded in the battle of Waterloo.
2 Lt.-Col. Warren served the campaign against the Rajah of Coorg in 1834, and was severely wounded at Saomwar
Pettah on the 3rd April ; he succeeded to the command of the Right Wing of the 55th on Lt.-Col. Mill being killed. He
commanded the 55th at Chin Kiang Foo in China (Medal), and was again severely wounded in a personal encounter with three
Tartars, two of whom he himself killed.
3 Major O’Leary served the campaigns of 1811, 12, and 13, in the Peninsula, including the siege of Ciudad Rodrigo,
battle of Salamanca, siege of Burgos, and retreat therefrom. Served in the Nepaul war, and was severely wounded in
an attack on the heights of Harriapore, 1st March, 1816. Served in the Mahratta war in 1817 and 18 Also in China
(Medal) at Amoy, Chusan, and Chinhae, including repulse of the night attack. He has received the War Medal and two
clasps for Ciudad Rodrigo, and Salamanca.
4 Major Daubeney served the campaign against the Rajah of Coorg in 1834. On the China expedition (Medal) he com¬
manded the Light Company of the 55th at the repulse of the enemy’s night attack on Chinhae, and also at Chapoo ; and he
was Major of Brigade to Sir James Schoedde at Woosung, Shanghai, and Chin Kiang Foo.
5 Captain Rose served with the 55th, and Captain Whimper with the 98th, at Chin Kiang Foo, in China (Medal).
6 Captain Coats served in China (Medal), at Amoy, Chusan, and Chin Kiang Foo.
7 Major Cuddy, Capts. Butler and King, Lieuts. Fairtlough and Frend, and Quarter-Master Grigg served in China (Medal),
at Amoy, Chusan, Chinhae (including repulse of night attack), Chapoo, Woosung, Shanghae, and Chin Kiang Foo. Major
Cuddy was severely wounded at Chin Kiang Foo whilst leading the advance guard at the escalade of the city.
8 Capt. Pitman served in China (Medal), at Amoy, Chusan, Chinhae, and Chin Kiang Foo.
10 Capt. Schaw and Lieut. Snowe served in China (Medal), at Amoy, Chusan, and Chinhae—including repulse of the
night attack.
12 Surgeon Campbell served with the 22nd in the campaign in Scinde under Sir Charles Napier, and was present at the
destruction of the Fort of Imaumghur, and at the battle of Meeanee (Medal). He served also the campaign of 1844 in
the Southern Mahratta country, and was present at the investment and storming of Panulla and Pownghur.
13 Assist.-Surg. Foss served with the 10th in the campaign on the Sutlej, and was present at the battle of Sobraon (medal).
