4 Capt. Ralston was embark¬
ed with a detachment of the
24th Light Dragoons in the out¬
ward bound Indian fleet, which
maintained an action with a
French squadron, under Ad¬
miral Linois, off the Mauritius,
6th Aug. 1805, and in which the
enemy were beaten off. On the
6th Aug. 1809, he led the ad¬
vanced squadron of his regi¬
ment in action with the rebels before Seringa-
patam, in which the latter were beaten and dis¬
persed; and on the same date he commanded
the outlying piquet in a night attack from the
garrison of Seringapatam.

1 Lieut.-Gen. Pigot was actively employed in the West Indies in 1794; in the Mediterranean and capture
of Minorca in 1798; at the capture of the Cape of Good Hope in 1806; and in the East Indies in 1818.
8 Capt. Coles served with tile 4th Light Dragoons in the campaign under Lord Keane in Scindc and
Affghanistan in 1888-9, and was present at the taking of Gliuznee.
5 Mr. Pine served with the 26th on the China expedition, (medal) and was present at the first capture of
Chusan, attack on Canton, attack and capture of Amoy, repulse of the night attack on Ningpo, attack and
capture of Tscke, Cltapoo, Shanghai Woosung, and Chin Kiang Foo. He acted as senior Medical Oflicer in
the campaigns in New Zealand, from April 1845 to May 1846, and was present at the destruction of Po-
mare’s Pah, attack on Heki’s Pah, destruction of the Waikadi Pah, storming of Kawiti’s Pah at Ohianai,
and capture of Kawiti’s Pah at Puapekapel.u.
