■'■ Lt.Colonel Shar)i served in the 2nd Battalion of the Royals in Canada during the rebellion in 1838. Landed with
" Battalion in the Crimea on the 22nd April 1855, and was at the siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal \\-itU Clasp,
;;! Glass of the Medjidie. and Turkish Medal).
'■ Captain Bocre served with the Sth Regiment in the Indian mutiny c impa'.gu in 1837, including the siege and
capture of Delhi, and was severely wouuded at the assault of the city (Jledal with Claspj.
1* Major Ussher served the campaign of 1844-45 in the Southern Mahratta oiiutry with the 22nd Regiment, and
was present at the investment and capture of the Forts of PanuUa and Pomighur. Also S3rved in India during the
mutiny of 1857-58 (Medal), and was attached to the Convalescent Depot at Murree in the Pun.ia'.'.b when the stntion
was attacked by a large force of hill men on the night of ist September 1857. Was on Vjoard the troop-ship liiuierii
Monarch when she blew up and was destroyed by fire at Spithead on 3rd June 1859.
'" Mnjor Crampton served with the 91st "Regiment in the action with the rebel Boers at Boem Plants on the 29th
August 1848, and was dangerously wounded in the right elbow joint. Also served in the Kaffir v^ar of 1851-53 (Medal).
-■'Captain Chandler served with the loth Regiment in the Sutlej campaign of 1845 46, including the battle of
Sobraon (Medal). Also the Punjaub campaign of 1S48-49, including tile whole of the siege operations before Mooltau,
affair of the 9th September' (wounded), storming the enemy's strongly-entreuclie 1 po.^itiia, c.ivrying of the Heights
before Mooltan and surrender of the fortress, and was afterwards present at the battle of Goojerat (Medal w^tli two
Clasps).
-1 Lt.Colonel George Fred. Moore served with the loth Regiment in the early part of the siege operations before
Mooltan in 1848 (Medal with Clasp), including the affair of the 9th September, and the storming of the enemy's
strongly-entrenched position, was severely wounded in the thigh on 4th November.
-^ Captain Wright served with the 83rd Regiment in suppressing the Indian mutinj', and was present at the affair
of Sanganeer, and defeat of the Gwalior rebels at Kotaria on the 14th August 1858 (Medal with Clasp).
-^ Captain Wedderbume served with the 24th Regiment during the Punjaub camjiaign of 1848-49, and was present
at the liattle of Goojorat (Medal with one Clasp). Served in the 7th Fusiliers in the ludian N.W. Frontier war of
1863 with the Euzafzye B'ield B'orce, present at the defence of the Sungahs at the Umbeyla Pass, and at the attack on
and storming of the Conical Hill, and destruction of Lalloo on the 15th December, also in the action at Umbcyla and
destruction of the village at the foot of the Bonair Pass on i6th Decemljer, which ended in the complete rout of the
enemy and the submission of the hill tribes on the 17th Decemlier (Medal with Clasp).
''* Lt.Colonel Graves served with the i8th Royal Irish in China from September 1840 to Juno 1847 (Medal), and was
present at the storming and capture of the Heights above Canton, attack and capture of Amoy, second capture of
Chusan, attack and capture of the Heights of Chiughae, occupation of Ningpo, and repulse of the night nttnck, attack
and capture of the enemy's entrenched Camp on the Heights of Segoan, attack and capture of Chapoo, Woosung,
Shanghai, and Chin Kiang Foo, and demonstration before Nankin. He was also present at the operations in the
Canton river under Major General D'Aguilar in April 1847, and was selected as the Officer to remain in command at
the Factories when the force was withdrawn, for the purpose of organising and drilling the Associated Gentlemen
Volunteers at Canton.
-' Lt.Colonel Thomson commanded the Engineers and Corjis of Pontoniers during the campaign in Arracan in
1824, and was present at the attacks on Paddowa, Mahatee, and Arracan city (Medal with Clasp). In 1838 was ap¬
pointed Chief Engineer to the Army of the Indus, and commanded the Detachments of British Troops which first
crossed that river; afterwards constructed a bridge of boats over it, for which he received thanks in general orders,
as also for opening a passage for the Anny through the Bolan Pass and over the Amram Mountains. Reconnoitred
the fortress of Gliuznee, and proposed a plan of attack, which being successful, he received the thanks of the Com¬
mander in Chief, and afterwards of the Governor General of India (Medal, and CB.).
'^^ Captain Searle was at the action of Ecknaes in the Gulf of Finland 20th May 1854, in action with the forts of
Bomarsund 15th August, and at the surrender of Fort Prasto on the i6th August. Served with the Baltic expedition
in 1855, and in the mortar-boat flotilla during the bombardment of Sweaborg (Medal).
^' Captain Godley landed with the s6th Regiment in the Crimea on the 25th August 1855, served at the siege of
Sebastopol, and present at the final assault (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
^ Captain Berry served with the 6ist Regiment in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the
Chenab, battles of Sadoolapore, Chillianwallah, and Goojerat, and pursuit of the enemy to the Khybcr Pass (Medal
with two Clasps). Served in the Indian campaign in 1857, and was present at the siege assault and capture of
Delhi, and action of Nujjufghur (Medal with Clasp).
^ Captain Clements wa s present at the attack on the batteries at Petropaulovski on 31st Augiist, landed on 4th
Sept. at an attack on the same batteries (severely wounded), and was at the capture of two Russian vessels on 7th
Sept. 1854. Served in the China war of 1857-58, including the blockade of the Canton river, storm and capture of
Canton, expedition to the North, and landed at the bombardment and capture of the forts at the mouth of the Peiho
river on 20th May, as Acting Adjutant and Qr.Master (Medal with two Clasps).
'1 Major Dore served with the J3uffs in the battle of Punniar (Bronze Star). Served with the 20th Regiment in the
Crimea from the nth July 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol (wounded) and capture of Kinboum (Medal with
Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
^* Major Faulkner was present with the Left Wing of the Queen's Royals during the latter part of the campaign of
1844-45 iu the Southern Concan and Sawant Warree country.
^^ Lt.Colonel Mackinnon served with the i6th Lancers in the campaign in Affghanistan of 1838-39 under Lord Keane,
and was present at the siege and capture of Ghuzneo (Medal). Served also throughout the Sutiej campaign of 1845-
46, and was present at the affair of Buddiwal (charger killed under him by a round-shot), and battles of Aliwal and
Sobraon (Medal and Clasp).
^* Major Wolfe served with the 2nd Queen's Royals in the campaign of i860 in China, including the advance on
Pekin (Medal with Clasp).
'5 Major Beresford served with the 49th Regiment in the Crimean campaign from 25th December 1854 to 26th July
1855, including the siege of Sebastopol and assault of the Redan on the i8th Juno (Me<lal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
■^<' Major Richmond served with the 98th Regiment in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal), and with the Flank
Companies in Sir Charles Napier's Force at tihe forcing of the Kohat Pass in February 1850 (Medal with Cl.asp).
3' Captain Lewis served with the Grenadier Company of the 94th Regiment in the action with and destruction of a
desperate band of insurgent fanatics at Teermanam Coonettos in Malabar.
^'Captain Moore sei-vod with the 34th Regiment in the Crimean campaign from loth August 1853, including the
siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assault of the Redan on 8th September (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
Served also in the Indian campaigns in 1857-59, including the actions at Cawnpore on 26th, 27th, and 28th November
1857, capture of Meeanguuge, siege and capture of Lucknow, and defeat of the rebels at Bootwnl (Medal with Clasp).
•^' Captain Connell served in the 30th Regiment in the Crimean campaign, including the siege of Sebastopol and
attack of the Redan on the i8th June 1855 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
*^ Captain D. Stewart was present with the Buffs in the battle of Punniar, and has received the Bronze Star.
♦' Major Woodall served in the 57th Regiment in the New Zealand war in 1861. Also in that of 1863, including
the capture of Katikara (Medal).
♦2 Captain Brooke served with Captain Lillie's Detachment in defeating the insurgents at Matale on 29th July,
during the suppression of the rebellion in the Kandian Provinces in 1848.
"Captain Reid served in the PunJR,ub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal), served also with the Flank Companies 98th
Regiment in the force under Sir Colin Campbell at the forcing of the Kohat Pass in February 1850 (Medal with Clasp).
Served in the Peshawur Expeditionary Force on the Euzofzie Frontier under Sir Sydney Cotton in April and May
1858. and at the affair with the Hindostanee fanatics on the Heights of Sittana on the 4th May (Clasp).
" Cai)tain DomviUe was landed in 1845 with a Detachment of Eo.yal Marines for the protection of British property
at Monte Video. Ho was there detached for service in the Parana, 'and was present at the attack and capture of the
Forts of Obligado. and forcing the i)assage of the river. Commanded a Detachment at Rat Isl.and, off Monte Video,
and was at the defence of Colonia in the River Plate in March and April 1847.
*'^ Captain Spofforth served with the 59th Regiment during the operations before and capture of Canton in 1857 (Medal
with Clasp).
■"> Captain Chapman served with the 29th Regiment throughout the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including; the
