2 Colonel Kelly served with the Slst Regt. in the Crimea from 22nd May to the end of June 1855, includ¬
ing the attack of the outworks of Sebastopol on the 18th June (Medal and Clasp, and 5th Class of the
Medjidie). Served in the Indian campaign of 1857-5S; commanded a detachment of the 3Sth Regt. at the
battle of Cawnpoie on fith Dec. 1867, and the same dny commanded a Brigade in defence of the enemy's
captured camp, repulsing two attacks and captiiring three guns : commanded three companies of the 3Sth
with a troop of Dth Lancers and some Punjaub Cavalry against the villages of VVhera and Nuttypore;
commanded the 38th Regt. when escorting the siege train from Mynpore to Cawnpore, also at the action
and capture of Meeangunge, and attack of the Dil Koosha; present at the taking of the Martiniere; second
in command of the Rrgt. at the siege and capture of Lucknow ; commanded the right wing 38th Regt.,
with two companies of the 84th and two of the 90th attached, for the capture of the Queen's Palace, and
took nine guns ; commanded the 38th from 'IZrA March to Kth June IS.'iS, and was present at the affairs of
Barree and Nuggur in Oude; commanded the 3rd Brigade from 27th March IS.'iS until its reduction (slightly
wounded on the head by a musket ball on 15th March, repeatedly mentioned in despatches. Medal and
