combined Fleets -on the outer forts and works of Sebastopol on the 17th October, and employed in the blockading
Force during the siege, until March 1855 (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
^ General Meade served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the R.M. Brigade, including the battle of
Balaklava and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with two Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Tui'kish Medal). Served
on the China Expedition of 1857-59, including the blockade of the Canton river, operations before and capture of
the city, afterwards as Quarter Master of the 2nd Battalion. Served with the expedition to the norbh of China
in i860, iuoludingthe action of Sinho, taking of Tangku, storm and capture of the North Taku Forts, and subsequent
operations (Medal with three Clasps).

Marines in the Egyptian vrar of 1882, a,nd was present in the engagement at Tel-el-Mahuta, in the two acti(raa at

" Major General Graham served with the Baltic Expeditions in 1854 and 1855, Including the destruction of tele¬
graph stations on 2qth June, and the shelling a large body of troops on ist July (Medal). Served in the Egyptian
war of 1882 (meniioned in despatches, CB., Medal, 4th Class ofthe Osmanieh, and Khedive's Star).
'* Major General Tuson served in China in 1858-60, and commanded a Detachment on an expedition against pirates
from 26th Aug. to 5th Sept. 185S (mentioned in despatches), and was present at the capture and destruction of 100 junks
and 236 guns. Was also present at the attack on the Peiho Fort on 25th June 1850, the capture of the Peiho Ports in
i860, and subsequent operations (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882, and commanded the Royal
Marine Artillery in the reconnaissance in force from Alexandria on the 5th August, and was present in the engage¬
ments at El Magfar and Tel-el-Mahuta, in the two actions at Kassasin, and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (twice men¬
tioned in despatches. Aide de Camp to the Queen, CB., Medal with Clasp, 3rd Class of the Medjidio, and Khedive's
Star.) Served with the Soudan Expedition under Sir Gerald Graham in 1884 in command of the Royal Marines, and
was present in the engagement at El Teb (twice mentioned in despatches, 3rd Class of the Osmanieh, two Clasps).
'•■"Major General Barnes served in the operations in the Canton river in 1856-58 ; was in Macao Port when attacked
by junks on 4th January, at the destruction of war junks in Fatsham Creek, landed to destroy a village, storm
and capture of Canton (mentioned in despatches. Medal with two Clasps).
'* Major General Walsh served with the Baltic Expedition of 1855 (Medal); and also with the Baltic Expedi¬
tion of 1856 until the declaration of peace.

(mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Major, and Medal).

' Colonel Ogle was landed from H.M.S. Brisk in command of a detachment of Royal Marines for the protection
ef Cape Coast Castle during the mutiny of the Gold Coast Artillery in October 1S62, and received a vote of thanks
from the Colonial Government. Served in China in H.M.S. Bodney from September 1867 to September 1869;
commanded the Royal Marine Artillery of the Battalion of Royal Mannes from the Squadron at the occupation of
