1 Colonel the Hon. William Colville served with the Rifle Brigade in the Eastern campaign of 1854-35, including
the battle of Alma, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with two Clasps, Brevet of Major, Knight of tUo Legion
of Honor, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and sth Class of the Medjidie).
' Lt.Colonel Patterson served with the 10th Regt. in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46,including the battle of Sobraon
(Medal). Also the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the whole of the siege operations before Mooltaii, action
of Soorjkhoond, carrj'ing the heights before Mooltan, capture of the Dowlut Gate in command of the stormiuff
partj', surrender of the fortress, and battle of Goqjerat (Medal with two Clasps). Commanded three companies of
the loth Regt. in Shahabad with Major Eyre's field force at Dilawur, and capture of Jugdespore, and was mentioned
in despatches for his gallantry (Brevet of Major, and Medal).
5 Sir Francis Morley served under Sir Charles Napier during the operations in Scinde in 1842. Served with the
40th Regt. in the Gwalior campaign, and was present at the battle of Maharajpore, 29111 Dec. 1843 (Bronze iStar).
^ Colonel Hume served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the 95th Regt. including the battles of the Alma
(wounded, horse killed under him, and mentioned in despatches) and Inkerman (severely wounded—shot through
the thigh), siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie of 26th October in command of the Regiment ; he succeeded
to the command of the Regiment at Inkerman, and received the Brevet of Lt.Colonel (Medal with three Clasps,
CB., Knight of the Legion of Honor, 4th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
" Lt.Colonel Ellison served the Eastern campaignof 1854-55 in the 47th Regt., Including the battles of Alma and
Inkerman, capture of Balaklava, siege of Sebastopol, and sortie on 26th Oct. (Medal with three Clasps, Sardinian
and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
* Lt.Colonel Vance served with the 38th Regiment in the Crimea from January to the 15th April 1855, in¬
cluding the siege cf Seba.stopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Also in the Indian campaign from Nov.
1857, and was present at the storm and capture of Meeangunge, siege and capture of Lucknow, affairs of Barreo
and Nuggur (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
' Lt.Colonel Baring served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the Scots Fusilier Guards, including
the Ijattlesof Alma, Balaklava, and Inkerman (wounded), siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie on the 26th Oct.,
wounded by grape-shot in the Trenches (Medal with four Clasps, Brevet of Major, Knight of the Legion of Honor,
Sth Class of the Medidjie, and Turkish Medal).

' Major Burslem served the campaigns of 1838, 39, and 40 in Affghanistan, with the 13th Light Infantry, and was
present at the stormandciptureof Ghuznee (Medal), assaultand capture of the town andfortress of Tootumdurrah,
storm of Joolghur, night attack at Baboo Koosh Ghur, destruction of Khardurrah, and assault of Pcrwandurrah.
in 1839 he accompanied the force under Sir Robert Sale to Girisk. In 1340 be, with Lieut. Sturi; of the Bengal
Engineers, proceeded on a Survej- of the defiles through the Hindoo Koosh—200 miles in extent—to KooUum.
^ Lt.Colonel Joseph Sanderson served the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of Fcrozeshah and
Sobraon (Medal and one Clasp).
•* Lt.Colonel P. P. Lea served with the 57th Regiment in the Crimea from 15th Nov. 1854 to 3rd July 1S55, includ¬
ing the siege of Sebastopol and assault of the Redan on the i8th .Tune—severely wounded in the right leg and foot
by grape shot; also previously wounded in the head and face in the Trenches (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of tho
Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
5 Captain William Maloney served the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46 with the 80th Regiment, including the battles
of Moodkee, Ferozeshah, and Sobraon (Medal and two Clasps). Served also in the Burmese war of 1852-53,
including the capture of Martaban, operations before Rangoon and capture of Prome (Medal with Clasp for
Pegu). Served in the Indian campaign of 1858-59, including the affairs of Hurra, Simree, Bora, Dhoondeakeira,
and Busingpore (Medal with Clasp).
' Major Powell was present at the capture of the fortress of Kumool in 1839. Served in the Crimean Campaign
from December 1854, and organised and commanded the Sth Battalion of the Land Transport Corps (Medal with
Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
'' Captain Baird served with the 4iBt Regiment in the Eastern Campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of
Alma and Inker .nan, siege and fall of Seba.stopol (wounded 9th June), sortie of 26th Oct., and assaults of the
Redan on the iSth June andSfch Sept. (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
" Captain Pickworth served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the 8th Hussars, including the reconnais¬
sance to Silistria, battles of Alma, Balaklava, Inkenuan, and the Tchernaya, affairs of Bulganak and M'Kenzie'a
Farm, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with four Clasps, French War Medal, and Turkish Medal). Served in the
Indian campaigns of 1858-59 and was present at the capture of Kotah, reoccupatiou of Chundaree, battle of Kota ke
Serai, capture of Gwalior, and action of Boordah (Medal with Clasp).
r' Colonel de Rottenburgh served in Canada during the rebellion and received the Brevet rank of Major for ser¬
vices there whilst employed on a particular service.
" lit.Colonel Saunders served at Sierra Leone and the Gambia from 1836 to 1841; was present with th9
expeditionary force in tho interior in 1837; employed on a special mission to convey despatches to tho French at
Senegal in 1838; commanded the troops at a riot at the Gambia in 1838, and whilst at night patrolling cai)tured a
Kun. Served in the Indian mutiny, and was mentioned in despatches as having distinguished himself, and for most
devoted and gallant conduct (Brevet of Major, and Medal).
'^ Lt.Colonel Ivey served with the Force employed in the suppression of the Negro insurrection in St. Lucia in
1845. Commanded the expeditionary force employed against the Native Chiefs in Burra Kingdom, West Coast
of Africa, in May 1862 (received the thanks of the Governor and Council).
