1 General Rennj- commanded the 8ist Regt. throughout the mutiny in India in 1857-58, a Regiment which
at the commencement of the mutiny disarmed one Regiment of Native Cavalry and three Reeiments of Native
nfantry at Mean Mcer, near Lahore; RCKiments well known to be disaffected and rijie for mutiny. For this
important senrice, and others performed by the 81st Regt. dui'ing the mutiny, he has received the order of CSI. and
the Indian Mutiny Medal. Commanded the First Brijiade in the Sittana expedition of May 1858 under Sir Sydney
Cotton (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp).
' Lt.Colonel Chichester and Quarter Master Hanlon served with the Sist rlegiment in the Eusoofzie
expedition in 1858 (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Indian mutiny in 1857-5S, and were present when
the 8ist Regiment, under Colonel Rcnny, disarmed at Mean Meer one Regiment of Native Cavalry and three
Regiments of Native Infantry, all disaffected and ripe for mutiny (Medal).
Second Lieut. Litton served with the 57th Regiment in the latter part of the Zulu war of 1879, and throughout
the operations of" Clarke's Column" (Medal with Clasp).
