(Medal and one Clasp). Served in the expedition against the Hussanzaies on the Black Mountain in Hazara in
1S52-53 (Medal with Clasp). Also the campaign of 185S-59 in Oude (Medal). Served with the expeditionary force in
China in i860 (Medal).
'" Colonel H. S. Obbard served in Bundlecund in 1842-43. Also in the Punjaub campaign in 1849. Present
at the mutiny of the Native Troops at Jullander in June 1857 and accompanied the pursuing Column when the
mutineers passed Loodianah. Assisted in raising the 21st Puujaub Infantry of which he commanded a wing and
a troop of Pathan Cavalry in the Googaria District during the rebellion of the Kurals in October 1857 (Medal).
'^' Colonel E. Tyrwhitt served the Gwalior campaign and was present at the battle of Punniar on 29th
Dec. 1843 (Bronze Star). Served also in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the siege of Mooltan (severely
wounded) and battle of Soroojkhoond—wounded (Medal with Clasp). Keceived the thanks of Government for the
capture of a rebel in the Hazara Hills in 1853. Again received the thanks of Government for services against the
Busee Kheyl Tribes while commanding the frontier fort Mackeson in 1855 (Medal with Clasp).
'** Colonel C. F. Hicks served during the Sutlej campaign. Present with the 6th Bengal Native Infantry when
it mutinied at Allahabad on the 6th June 1857. Commanded a detachment of Irregular Cavalry during the opera¬
tions in the vicinity of Allahabad, and afterwards served as a volunteer in Havelock's Cavalry throughout the
operations of that force (Medal).
"^ Colonel E. G. Langmore served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battle of Ferozeshah (Medal).
Served also in the Bhootan campaign in 1865 and was present at the recapture of Dewnngiri (Medal with Clasp).
1^' Colonel H. C. Anderson served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battle of Ferozeshah
(Medal). Served also in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58 (Brevet of Major, and Medal).
'«' Colonel J. Reid served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Served in the Indian mutiny cam¬
paigns of 1857-58, including the assault and capture of Chandeepore Fort, siege and capture of Lucknow, affairs of
Barree and Simree, action of Nawabgunge, occupation of Fyzabad and Sultanpore, and passage of the Goomtee
(several times mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp).
I'o Colonel J. Emerson served throughout the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of Moodkee.

'"' Colonel J. I. Murray served m the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Served throughout the Indian
mutiny campaigns of 1857-59 ; present at the battle of Shahgunge; Commanded Rajah Gobind Sing's Jat Horse
at the battle of AUyghur (mentioned in despatches " for conspicuous gallantry," wounded, and charger wounded) ;
served as a volunteer at the l)attle of Agra ; employed in Nov. and Dec. 1857 in raising the Jat Horse and in restor¬
ing order in the Allyghur and Etah districts; commanded at the Cavalry engagements at Kutchla Ghaut and
defeated with 200 sabres of the Jat Horse 600 Irregular Cavalry mutineers, and held the Rohilcund rebel army in
check till the arrival of General Penny's Force on the nth March 1848 ; in April, May, and June with the Jat Horse
guarded successfully the Ghauts on the Ganges in the Allyghur and Etah districts against the Rohilcund rebels ;
commanded the Regt. throughout the second Oude campaign and the operations on the Nepaul frontier, including the
action near Bootwal, attack on the rebels in the hills, and defeat of the Nusseerabad rebel brigade at Durreahpore ;
commanded a Column in the final operations on the Nepaul frontier (Medal, Brevet of Major, and repeatedly thanked
by the Commander in Chief and the Government).
181 Colonel A. G. Forsyth served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the action of Sadoolapore
(Medal). Served also in the Indian mutiny campaigns of 1857-59, including the action near Agra on the 5th July,
battle of Agra on the 10th Oct. 1857, and action of Dowra (Medal).
"^ Colonel G. S. Macbean served with the force against the Boree Affreedees in 1853 (Medal with Clasp).
Accompanied the advance force from Allahabad in June 1857 and served with Havelock's Force from its first taking
the field in July, and was present at the actions of Futtehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddee, Cawnpore, Oonao, Busee-
rutgunge (both actions), Boorbeake-Chowkee, Bithoor, Mungarwar, Alumbaugh, relief of the Garrison of Lucknow,
and defence of the Residency; subsequent siege and capture of Lucknow, aifairs of Rooyah and AUygunge, Rohil¬
cund campaign, and recapture of Bareilly (mentioned in despatches, thanked by Government, Medal with two
Clasps, and Brevet of Major, and a year's service).
1'" Colonel J. I. Willes served under Sir Charles Napier against the hill tribes in Sind in 1845. Served also
in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal).
"^ Colonel D. Mocatta served throughout the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46 including the battles of Moodkee,
Ferozeshah, and Sobraon (Medal and two Clasps). Served with the Cashmere Contingent before Delhi in 1857 and
present at its capture (Medal with Clasp). Commanded the Military Police in the reserve force in the Eusofzai
expedition of 1863. Commanded the 3rd Sikh Infantry in the Hazara field force on the Black Mountain in 1868
(mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp). Commanded an expeditionary force against the Jowaki Afreedees
on 30th August 1877, and was afterwards in command of a column in the Jowaki expedition—mentioned in -
despatches, and received the thanks of Government (Clasp).

''■" Colonel J. W. F. Bean served throughout the Funjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the
Chenab and battle of Goojerat (Medal with one Clasp).
2"^ Colonel A. Pond served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the action of Aliwal (Medal). Served
also in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58, and present at the action near Agra with the Neemuch mutineers
(wounded), and at an engagement with the rebels at the village of Chawhowlee, which was surprised, captured, and
destroyed. Commanded a Wing of the 3rd Europeans at the capture and destruction of a village 30 miles from
Agra. Present at the battle of Agra. Commanded four companies of Europeans at the taking of Puttehpore
Sikree, as also when the position of Shereghur Ghat was secured, when 1500 rebels were driven through the ravines
and across the river, and held the Ghat in action for five or six hours (Medal).
^"3 Colonel J. B. Thelwall served with the 24th Regt. in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, and was present at
the passage of the Chenab, and battles of Sadoolapore, Chillianwaliah (severely wounded by a grape-shot in the
thigh), and Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps). Served with the expeditionary force under Sir Sydney Cotton on the
Euzofzaie border in 1858 and was present at the affairs of Chingli and Sittana (Medal with Clasp). Also served in
the Oude campaign of 1858-59, including the storm and capture of Rampore Kussia (mentioned in despatches,
thanked by the Governor General, Medal, and CB,). Served in the Joynteah Hills during the rebellion of 1862-63,
and present at the storm and capture of stockades at Oomkoi, Oomkrong, Nungliarai, and Surleeing. Commanded
the 2ist Bengal Native Infantry in the Abyssinian campaign (mentioned in despatches. Medal).
