* Sir Robert Vivian served throughout the Burmese war of 1824-26, and was present at the fall and occupation of
Rangoon, assault of stockades at Yelgeo, Joozong, and Keminendine, repulse of the enemy's attack on the Lines at
Rangoon, and subsetiuent operations, affairs in tlie Panglang river, attack and capture of stocliades at Thantabain
(in command of his Regiment), repulse of the enemy's several attacks under Bundoola on the Lines at Rangoon from
ist to 7th Dec. 1824, general engagement on 1st (slightly wounded), 5th, and 7th Dec, action at Kokein, assault and
capture of Zimbikc, affairs near Promc and Patnagoh, storm of Maiown, and battle of Pagammew (Medal w^ith Clasp),
Commanded the Force which captured the Fort of Nepaunee, held by a body of insurgent Arabs, 22nd Feb. 1841, for
which service he received the thanks of the local Government and Commander in Chief. In 1855, during the Rus-
Bian war, organized and commanded the Turkish Contingent of 20,000 men, and occupied the position of Kertch
during the winter of 1855-56, and received the approval and acknowledgments of Her Majesty's Government (KCB.,
ist Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
' Lt.Colonel Duncan served in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58, including the action of Soorajpore, defence
of the Alumbagh under Colonel M'Intyre, storming of the Secundrabagh and Shah Nujiffaud relief of Lucknow by
Lord Clyde, occupation of the Aluinbagh under Outram, capture of Lucknow, campaign of 1858 in Oude, with pas¬
sage of the Goomtee, action at Shahpore, and other minor affairs (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service for
Lucknow).
'Major Cleland served in suppression of the mutiny in Bengal in 1857-58, and was present with Havelock's
Column in the actions of Futtehpore, Aoung, Pandoo Nuddee, Cawnpore, Bithoor, Mungarwar, and Alumbagh, relief
of Lucknow, and defence of the Residency, occupation of the Alumbagh under Outram, capture of Lucknow, cam¬
paign of 1858 in Oude—slightly wounded (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service for Lucknow).
'" Major Stevens served in suppression of the mutiny in Bengal in 1S57-58, including the occupation of the Alum¬
bagh under Outram, capture of Luckuow, passage of the Goomtee at Sultanpore, and several minor affairs in Oude
(Medal with Clasp).
" Captain Rogers served the campaign in Oude from June to Dec. 1858, including the occupation of Fyzabad,
capture of Sultanpore, passage of the Goomtee, action of Shahpore, capture of the Fort of Kaili, and other minor
affairs (Medal).
12 Major Shaw served in the New Zealand war of 1863-64 (Medal).
