' Colonel Delafosse served in the Artillerj' at the siege of Cawnpore in 1857 under Major General Sii-Hugli Jl.
Wheeler (mentioned in despatches and allowed to reckon one year's extra service). Sei-ved in the Artillery with
the Force under ilajor Generals Havelock a.nd Outram, and present at the crossing into Oude, actions of Mungar-
war and Alumljagh, and entry into Lucknow ; commanded two guns in an advance piquet during the subsequent
defence of the Residency ; present at the retaking of Cawnpore (mentioned in despatches, received the thanks of
the Governor General in Council, Medal with two Clasps, a year's extra service, and recommended for the Brevet of
Major and for the Victoria Cross). Served with the Sikkim Field Force as Stiiif Officer under Colonel Gawler in
1861 (menti<med in despatches, leceived the approbation of the Governor General in Council, and recommended a
second time for the Brevet of Major by the Coinmander in Chief). Served in the Indian N.W. Frontier war of 1863,
and was present at tlie attack and capture of the Crag Piquet, the Conical Hill, and Umbeyla (mentioned in
despatches. Medal with Clasp).
^ Major Hall served with the ist Bengal Fusiliers during the Bui'mese war of 1852-53 (Medal with Clasp for Pegu).
Served as Assistant Field Engineer with Havelock's Force, and was present at the passage of the Ganges at Ctiwn-
pore, the actions of Mungarwar, Alumbagh, and first relief of Lucknow on 25th Sept.; employed in all the mining
operations of the defence of the Residency until finally relieved by Lord Clyde on 24tli Nov. 1857. Led one of tiie
storming parties on the Hirn Khannah (mentioned iu desjjatches). Occupation of the Alumbagh under Outrani.
With the 1st Bengal Fusiliers at the capture of Lucknow in March 1858 and during the subsequent operations
in Oude (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service for Lucknow).
5 Major Jervis served in suppression of the Indian mutiny, and was present at the defence of Cawnpore in Nov.
1857, and at the storm and capture of Lucknow (Medal with Clasji). Served in the Indian N.W. Frontier war ci
1863, and was present at the attack and capture of the Crag Piquet, the Conical Hill, and Umbeyla (Medal wiih
Clasp).

7 Captain Barnard served in the 19th Regiment in the Hazar* campaign of 1868, including the expedition against
the tribes on the Black Mountain (Medal with Clasp). Served as a volunteer under Captain Glover, R.N , in tbe
Ashanti war of 1S73-74. Led the Advanced Guard at the capture of Abogon. Commanded for five days a detacheft
force of 650 men which captured Jaashi and Adoomassie. Commanded a detachment of 150 men which drove t."..*
enemy out of their camps in the North bank of the Anoom (Mentioned in despatches for " great discretion and
judgment," and on two occasions for "gallant conduct"; CM!}., Medal with Clasp. Promoted Captain "in
recognition of his services in the Ashanti Expedition of 1874.")
" Lieut. Spitta served in the ist West India Regiment in the Ashanti War of 1873-74 (Medal with Clasp).
12 Mr. C. P. H. Beardmore served in the Ashanti war of 1873-4, including the action of Essaman and battle of
Amoaful (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp). Has received the Bronze Medal of the Roj'al Humane-
Society for saving the life of a native Coolie from drowning during the Ashanti campaign in 1873.
1* Quarter Master Boyton served in the Crimea from June 1855, including the siege and fall of Sebaatopol (Medal
