1 Sir Arthur CunjTighame proceeded to China in 1841 as Aide de Camp to Lord Saltoun, and was present at the
storm and capture of Chin-kiang-Foo (led the Column of attack on the Heights of Makuikiow), and at the investment
of Nankin (Medal). In 1854 accompanied the Army to the East as Assistant Quarter Master General to the ist Divi¬
sion, was present at the affair of Bulganac, battle of Alma, taking of Balaklava, affair of 23rd Oct. on the Heights
of the Tchernaya, battles of Balaklava and Inkermau (sei-ved with the Guards in the Sand-bng Battery, and led
into action a detached portion of the 20th Regiment), and siege of Sebastopol up to May 1855 (Medal with four
Clasps, CB., Officer of the Legion of Honor, Turkish Medal, and 4th Class of the Medjidie). In March 1855 was
appointed local Major General, in May took command of a Division of the Turkish Contingent, and in August re¬
ceived the personal thanks of the Sultan and was created a Lt.General in the Turkish Army. In Oct. 1855 sailed in
command of 10,000 men to occupy Kertch, and assisted to maintain that position throughout the second winter
in the Crimea (Turkish War Medal, and 2nd Class of the Medjidie). In 1863 commanded at Lahore the reserve forces
of the army employed in the Sittana campaign. On the 2nd and 23rd April 1869, when in command of the Northern
Division of Ireland, received the thanks of the Irish Government on the suppression of the Fenian rising. In July
1869 elevated to KCB.
5 Captain Morris served with the 75th Regiment in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the occupation,
after the relief of Lucknow, of the fortified outposts and camp with llutrara's Force, and repulse of the enemy's
attacks; also present at the battle of Cawnpore on 6th December (Medal).
" Captain Ranee served with the 28th Regiment throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles
of Alma and Inkerman, in the Trenches at the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assault of the i8th June (Medal with
three Clasps, and Turkish Medal).
* Captain Beamish served with the 63rd Regiment in the Crimea from 12th November 1B54, including the siege and
fall of Sebastopol, repulse of various sorties, attacks of the i8tli June and 8th September, expedition to Kertch,
bombardment and capture of Kinbourn (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
' Paymaster Campbell served with the 95th Regiment throughout tlie Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the-
battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, and sortie on tlie 26th October (Medal with three Clasps, and
Turkish Medal). Served in 1858 at the siege and capture of Kotah, battle of Kota ka Serai, general action resulting
in the capture of Gwalior (Medal with Clasp).
