1 Sir Charles Van Straubenzee served throughout the campaign against the Rajah of Coorg in 18.34 resulting in the
annexation of that territory. As Jlajor he succeeded to the command of the .'J9th Kegt. during the action of Maliarajpore,
Gwalior (Medal and Brevet of Lt.Colonel) on 29th Dec. 1843. Commanded the British Contingent in Greece from Nov.
18.04 to April ISori, when he proceeded in command of the Buffs to the Crimea and continued therein command of a
Brigade until July 18,00; was present at the two assaults of the Kedan in June and September, at the former he com¬
manded a separate Brigade, and at the latter Ihe 1st Brigade Light Division when he was slightly wounded (Medal and
Clasp, CB., Officer of the Legiorr of Honor, Sardinian and Turkish Medal, and 3rd Class of the Medjidie). Proceeded to
China in command of a Brigade in 1857 and succeeded to Ihe command of the forces there in November ; commanded the
land forces at tire capture by assault and occupation of (he city of Canton on '.;9th Dec. 1857 and iir all subsequent minor
operations, and continued in command of the British forces in China until March 18C0 {KCB., Medal aud Clasp).
A Major Leckie served at the sieRC and fall of Sebaslcpol in 1855, and at the attacks on the 18th June and 8th Sept
(Medal with Clasp, Brevet Jlajor, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medal).
4 I\Iajor Pedder served at tlie siege of Sebastopol in 1855, and at the assault on the Redan on the 18th June (Medal
with Clasp, antl Turkish Medul).

10 Lieut. Sharpies was present at the battle of Maliarajpore 29th Dec. 1843 (Medal): he served also at the siege and fall
of Sebastopol in 1853, including attacks on the 18th June and 8th Sept. (l^.Iedal and Clasp, and Turkish Medall.
12 Qr.Master Jobberns served at the siege and fall of Sebastopol inl855, including the attacks of the 18ih June and
8tb September (Medal and Clasp, Medal for distinguished conduct in thefield, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish
Medall.
