Beturned from the Crimea, ijuly 1856.
1 Sir John Gough served during the war in China of 1840-42 as Deputy Quarter Master General and head of the depart¬
ment ; was present at almost every engagement during the expedition, and received the brevet rank of Major and Lt.Colonel
together with the Companionship of the Bath (Medal). Served in the Gwalior campaign of 1843-44 as Militaiy Secretaiy to
the Commander in Chief in India, and was present at the battle of Maharajpore (Medal). Appointed a Brigadier in the Army
of the Sutlej 1845-40 ; conunanded the 2nd Brigade of Cavalry at the battles of Moodkee and Ferozeshah, and officiated as
Quarter Master General of H. M.'s forces in India at the battle of Sobraon, where he was severely wounded (Medal and
Clasps). Served the Punjaub campaign of 1S48-49, as Quarter Master Genera! of H.M's Forces in India, and was prc-ent at the
battles of Chillianwallah and Goojerat (Modal with Clasps), appointed Aide de Camp to the Queen with brevet rank of Colonel.
6 Captain Uniacke served with the 10th Hussars in the Crimea from 17 April 1855, including the capture of Tchorgouri,
siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served with the Carabineers in India, and was
present at the battles of the Hindun, battle of Budlekaserai, affair of 9lh June 1857, siege and fall of Delhi, and
subsequent operations with Showers'Moveable Column (Medal with Clasp).
7 Captain Dunbar served in the Crimea from I9th Aug. to 1st Sept. 1855 (Medal with Clasp for Sebastopol, and Turkish Medal).
8 Cornet Donnithorne served through the New Zealand War of ISC-l-Co as a Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery, and was present in the
campai!?n on the "Waikato river. Expedition to Tauranga, action of the Gate Pali, Campaign in the Wanganui district, and with the
Expeditions of the moveable column on the river Patea.
