1 Lt. Colonel M'Call served tlie Eastern campaign of 18.'i4-55, including the battles of Alma and Balaklava, expedition
to Kertch and Yeniltale, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assaults of the 18th June and 8tli Sept. (Medal and three
Clasps, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Knight of the Legion of Honor, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
2 Captain Dresing was present at tlic storming of Kawiti'a Pah at Ruapekapeka, Kew Zealand, ou llth Jan. 1848, after
which he proceeded to the valley of the Hutt, and served there during different operations.
3 Major Lindam served in the lOtli Foot in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, and was severely wounded (lost a leg) at
the battle of Sobraon (Medal). He served also four yeais as Paymaster in the Rifle Brigade in British Caffraria, including
the Kaffir war of 1840-47.
5 Captain Philips served with the 47th Regt. in the Eastern campaign of 1854, and was severely wounded at the battle
of Alma (Medal and Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
6 Lt.Colonel Saunders served at Sierra Leone and the Gambia from 1836 to 1841; was present with tlie expeditionary
force in the interior in 1837; employed on a special mission to convey dispatches to the French at Senegal in 1838;
commanded the troops at a riot at the Gambia in 1888, and whilst at night patrolling captured a gun. Served in the
Indian Mutiny, and was mentioned in despatches as liaving distinguished himself and for most devoted and gallant conduct
(Brevet of Major, and Medal).
7 Captain Toogood served throughout the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, Including the passage of the Chenab, battles
of Cliillianwallah and Goojerat (wounded), pursuit across the Jhelum and of the Alf'ghans over the Indus through the
Kyber Pass (Medal with two Clasps). Served In the Crimea in 1855-5G with the Turkish Contingent during its occupation
of Kertch (Turkish Medal).
8 Colonel Hume served the Eastern campaign of 1854-.'>5 with the D3th, including the battles of the Alma (wounded,
and horse killed under him) and Inkerman (severely wounded—shot through tiie thigh), siege and fall of Sebastopol, and
sortie of 28th Oct. in command of the Regt.: lie succeeded to (he command of the Regt. at Inkerman, and received the
brevet rank of Lieut.Colonel (Medal and Clasps, CB., Knight of the Legion of Honor, 4th Class of the Medjidie, and
Turkish Medal).
9 Lt.Colonel Haidinge served with the Rifle Brigade in the Kaffir war of 184(; until its termination in 1847; and in that
of 1852-.53 (Medal). Also in tlie expedition against the insurgent Boers N.E. of the Great Orange River in Au.::. 184S,
when he was present and slightly wounded in the action at Boem Plaats. Served the Eastern campaign of 1854, including
the battles of Alma and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and Clasps, Brevet Major, 5tli Class of the Medjidie,
and Turkish Medal).
10 Major Leith served with the 14th Lt. Drs. in the Persian expedition of 1857 (Medal). Also at the suppression of the
mutiny at Aurungabad; with the Malwa field force at the siege and capture of Dhar, actions before iVIundesore (wounded),
battle of Gooravia, and relief of Neemuch; with the Central India field force under Sir Hugh Rose at the siege and capture
of Rahutgur, relief of Sangur, capture of Gurrakota and pursuit across the Besis, forcing the Muddenpore Pass, siege and
capture of Jhansi, battles of the Betwa and Koonch, and all the affairs during the advance on Calpee (twice mentioned in
despatches. Brevet of Major, and Medal), and was awarded the Victoria Cross for conspicuous bravery at Betwa on the
1st April I8.'i8 in having charged alone and rescued Captain Need of his Regiment when surrounded by a large number
of rebel infantry.
^11 Major Granville served with the 23rd Fusiliers in the Eastern campaign of 1854, including the battles of Alma and
inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Joined Lord Clyde's army before Luck-
now, on 14th Nov. 1857, and was at the relief of the garrison; also at the defeat of the Gwalior Contingent at Cawnporo
on 6th December, and at the fall of Lucknow in March 1858 (Brevet of Major, Medal with two Clasps).
