War Services of Retired Majors,
252 Major J. Du Pre Brabazon was present at the storm and destruction of the fortified native
Mandingo town of Sabajee on the Gambia, on the 1st June 1853.
253 Major Gresson served as a Volunteer in the Peshawur Light Horse at Peshawur^ during
the Indian Mutiny of 1857-58. M'as on board the ship " Eastern Monarch " when slic blew up
and caught fire at Spithead on 3rd June, 1859. Served in the New Zealand War of 1863-b'4
and was present at the outbreak of hostilities at Taranaki, the storming of the Pah Katikira,
the affair of Kerikori, and commanded the storming party consisting of two companies 65th
Ilegt. at Rangariri on the 20 Nov. 1863 and was very severely wounded, right arm being
shattered, bullet penetrating back (several times mentioned in dispatches, Brevet of Major).
