126 Major General A. A. Bruce served with the force under General Wheeler in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49
(Medal). Served also with the force under Colonel Mackeson against the Hussanzies in 1852-53 (Medal with Clasp).
127 Major General A. C. Bruce served in command of the 91st Highlanders in the Zulu war of 1879, and was
present at the action of Gingindhlovu and relief of Ekowe (Medal with Clasp, aid CB.).
'29 Major General G. Bryd'ges served with the Baltic Expedition in 1854 and 1855, and commanded a Mortar in the
flotilla during the bombardment of Sweaborg (Medal). Whilst serving in H.M. ship Ocean was landed in command of
the Marines of the Fleet on several occasions during the Revolution in Japan in 186B, including the occupation of
Kobe.

'^2 Major General E. B. Burnaby sers'ed with the 51st Light Infantry in the Umbeyla E.'cpedition in 1863. Also
served in the Jowaki campaign in 1877 (.Medal with Clasp). Served with the 51st Light Infantry in the Afghan
war of 1878-80, and was present at the attack and capture of Ali Musjid, and in the operations in the Bazar and
Lughman Valleys—wounded (mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Medal with Clasp). Served with
the Burmese Expedition in 1S86-87 (CB., and Claspi.
'3^ Major General H. Butler served with the 57th Regiment in the Crimea from 23rd Sept. 1854, including the
battles of Balaklava and lukeraian (carried the Colours after Lieut. Hague was killed), siege and fall of Sebas-
topol, assault of the Kedan on i8th June, and expedition to Kinoourn (Medal with three Clasps, Brevet of Major,
Knight of the Legion of Honor, and Turkish Medal). Served in the New Zealand war in 1861; also in that of
1863-65 (Brevet of'Lt.Colonel, and Medal).
'2' Major General T. K. Byrne served in the Crimean campaign from May 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol
and expedition to K ertch (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
'^' Major General J. Byron served in the 34th Regiment at the siege of Sebastopol in 1854, and was wounded and
taken prisoner in a sortie by the Russians ou the night of the 20th December (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish
Medal). Served in the Indian campaign in 1857-58, including actions at Cawnpore under Windham, siege and
capture of Lucknov?. and relief of Azimgiiur (Medal with Clasp).
'36 Major General D. R. Cameron served with the Bhootan Expedition in 1864-65, and was present at the actions of

'" Major General C. W. Campbell was present at the mutiny of the Native Troops at Luoknow in 1857 ; joined the
Volunteer Cavalry and was engaged in several reconnaissances prior to the battle of Chinhut and present also at that
action (severely wounded); served throughout the defence of the Residency of Lucknow (wounded), and afterwards
at the recapture of Cawnpore from the Gwalior Contingent (Medalwith Clasp, and a year's service). Served with
Fane's Horse throughout the campaign of i860 in China, including the capture of the Taku Forts and subsequent
operations up to the surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and
Khedive's Star).

Sebastopol, in the Trenches with the siege train, and at the bombardments of gth April, 6th June, 17th June, i7tli
August, and 8th September (Medal with Clasp, Sardinian and Turkish Medals). Served with the expedition to
China in i860, and was present at Sinho, Tangku, capture of Taku Forts (mentioned in despatches, also in the
French General's despatches for services in command of two Howitzers in support of the French attack), actions
near Tangchow and surrender of Pekin (Medal with two Clasps). Served throughout the Afghan war of 1878-80,
and was present in the engagements at Ahmed Kheyl (mentioned in despatches) and Urzoo near Ghuznee (Medal
with Clasp). Served with the Zhob Valley Expedition in 18S4 in command of Artillery (CjB.).
'35 Major General J. P. (Campbell served with the 30th Regiment throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55,
including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie of 26th October 1854 (men¬
tioned in despatches. Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
140 Major General J. P. W. Campbell served the Sutle.i campaign 011845-46, including the battlesof Moodkee and
ITerozeshah—severely wounded (Medal and Clasp). Served in the expedition under Colonel Mackeson against the
Hussanzaies on the Hazara border in 1852-53 (Medal with Clasp). Served as Staff Officer of the Puiijaub Irregular
Force with the expedition against the Bozdo.r Hill Tribe in 1857 and was present at tlie taking of the Khaubund Defile.
