severely wounded (Medal with Clasp, a year's service, and a wound pension). Served with the Eusofzai Field Force
in the Umbeyla campaign, and was jiresent in the action of the 15th and i6th December 1863 (Medal with Clasp).
Also with the Hazara Field Force, including operations on the Black Mountain in 1868 (Clasp). Commanded the 6th
Punjab Infantry in the expedition against the Jowaki Afreedees in 1877-78 (Clasp). Commanded the 2nd Brigade
Tank Column throughout the expediuonagainstthe Miihsood Wuzeerees in 1881 under Brigadier General Kennedy.
"^ Major General J. P. Slicrriif served with the 2nd Punjaub Infantry during the Indian Mutiny campaign in
1857-58, and was present at the siege, assault and capture of Delhi including the battle of Nujjutfghur. Accom¬
panied Greathed's Movable Column and present at the battle of Boolundshuhur; was detached with a portion
of his Regiment atAIlyghur; and subsequently commanded a mixed force in the Etawah District, where he had
several engagements with the enemy and captured five guns, after driving the enemy from his position—received
the thanks of the Governor General (Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major). Served with the Looshai Expedition
in 1871-72 (Medal with Clasp).
1* Colonel A. H. Bramley served as Orderly Officer to Brigadier Polwhele at the action of the 5th July 1857,
with the Neemuch mutineers near Agra ; and was also present at the battle of Agra on the loth October following
with the Mhow and Indore Rebels—slightly wounded (Medal).
^^'-' Colonel L. H. P. De H. Larpent commanded a detachment of his regiment with the force under Colonel
Vaughan in the Meranzaie district in July and August 1857. Served as Quarter Master of his regiment with the
Eusofzaie expeditionary force under Sir Sydney Cotton in 1858, and was present at the destruction of Chinglee
Mungul. Thana, and Sittana (Medal with Clasp). Served also durmg the mutinies of 1857-58. Also served in the
Abyssinian war in 1867-68 (Medal).

Also at Saugor in Central India during 1857-58; present at numerous' engagements in the district of Saugor, and

Brigadier Betou's Column between Delhi and Futtehghur. Also present at the siege of Lucknow. Commanded a
Squadron of Hodson's Horse, and present at one engagement (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp). Served
with the Bhootan E.xpeditiou in 1864 (Medal); and with the Jowaki Afreedee Expedition in 1877-78 (Clasp). Also
served in the Afghan war in 1879-80 (.Medal).
