operations around Cabul in December 1879; accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahtu-, and
was present at the battle of Candahar (Medal with three Clasps, and Bronze Decoration). Served with the ist Battalon
Seaforth Highlanders in the Egyptian war of 1S82, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp,

(dangerously wounded) ; accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Cand.ahar, and wns nresent at the
battle of Candahar (Medal with two Clasps, and Bronze Decoration). Served as Adjutant ist Hattalioii Sentorth
Highlanders throughout the Egyptian war of 1S82, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kcbir (Medal with
Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
3^ Lieuts. Warrand and Spottiswoode servcil with the ist Battalion Senforth Highlanders in the Egyptian
war of 1882, and were present at the engagement at Chalouf and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp,

patches, Medal with three Clasps, Bronze Decoration, and additional Medal with Clasp for distinguished conduct in

tion in 1884 with the ist Battalion Gordon Highlanders, and was present in the engagements at El Teb and Temai
(two Clasps). Served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the ist Battalion Gordon Highlanders and with the
River Column under Major General Eaiie (Clasp).
