the battles of Moodkee and Ferozcshah, and with the expedition against Kot Kangra (Medal and Clasp). Served
during the Burmese war of 1852-53 as Military Secretary to General Godwin, Commander of the Force, and was
present at the captures of Prome and Pegu (several times mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp for Pegu, and
Brevet of Maior).
^^' Sir Charles Cooper Johnson served in the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battle of Sobraon (Medal).

2*2 Colonel W. C. R.Mylne served in the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-59, and was presentat the action of Pandoo
Nuddee and other affairs previous to the defence of Cawnpore underGeneralWindhamtowhom he acted as Aide
de Camp on 27th Nov. 1857 (horse killed under him by a cannon-shot), also present at the battle of Cawnpore, taking
of Etawah and Mynjjoorie, operations at Eamgunga, and action of Kunkur (twice mentioned in despatches. Medal).
^•'s Sir Herbert Taylor Macpherson served in the Persian war in 1857 as Adjutant 78th Highlanders, including
the expedition to Bnrazoon, the night attack and battle of Kooshab, and bombardment of Mohumrah (Medal with
Clasp). Served in Bengal with Havelock's Column, present in the actions of Onao (wounded), Buseerutgunge (first
and second), Boorbeakcchowket, and Bithoor, and in the several actions leading to and ending in the relief of the
Residency at Lncknow and subsctiuent defence (wounded, Victoria Cross); with Outram's Force at Alumbagh, in¬
cluding the repulse of the numerous attacks, and served as a Brigade Major in the operations ending in the
final capture of Lucknow—severely wounded (Medal wii.b Clasp, and a year's service. Served in the Hazara cam¬
paign on the Black Mountain in 1868 (Medal with Clasp); in the Looshai expedition of 1871-72 (Clasp!, and iu the
Jowaki campaign of 1S77, being present at the forcmg ofthe Bori Pass. Served in the Afghan war of 1878-79
in command of the ist Brigade ist Division of the Khyber Column (Medal with Clasp, £CB.).
2''« Colorel C. J. Godby served in the Sutlej campaign of 1S45-46, mcluding the affair of Buddiwal, action
of Aliwal, surrender of Fort Phillour,and subsequent operations in the Jullunderl)oab(Medal). Also throughouttlie
Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the passage of the Chenab, and actions of Ramnuggur, Sadoolapore, and
Chillianwallah—dangerously wounded in a hand-to-hand fight, in defence of the Regimental Colours (Medal with
Clasp). Was wounded by an assassin in Dec. 1853 when in charge of the EusofTzie frontier. Has been employed in
hunting down and engaged with hill robbers on the Peshawur frontier. Served as Brigadier General in command
of the ist Brigade of Sir Donald Stewart's Division in tbe Afghan war of i8;8-So, including the surrender of Can-
dahar and Khelat-i-Ghilzie and the occupation of Candahar tdl March 1880. Present in the advance to Ghuznee
and Cabul, and in the engagements at Ahmed Khe.yl and Urzoo, and in the subsequent operations in the Logar
Valley and about Cabul till August i8f o, wheu he was compelled by sickness to resign his command (mentioned
in despatches. Medal with Clasp, and CM.).
2*7 Colonel H. F. M. Boisragon served in the Burmese war in 1852-53, and was present at the relief of the Gar¬
rison of I*egu, and commanded a Field Force against the rebel chief Mong Gouneggie (Medal with Clasp for Pegi*).
Served also in the Indian mutin.y campaign in 1857-58; commanded a Wing of the Kumaou Goorkha Battalion at
the siege storm and capture of Delhi (dangerously wounded); commanded a Force in the Saharunpore district,
and on the loth Jan, 1858 encountered and beat back across the Ganges at Hurdwar upwards of 1000 of the enemy
with 4 guns, destroying man.y ofthe enemy and capturing arms and munitions of war—thanked by Government
{Medal with Clasp, and Brevet of Major).
2''* Colonel J. K. Couper served with the expedition under General Wheeler against Kote Kangra in 1846.
25° Colonel J. Perkins served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the attack on the Heights of Moor-
pooria (Medal). Served with the Force under Sir Charles Napier that forced the Kohat Pass in Feb. 1850; and with
that under Sir Colin Campbell in 1851-52 and present at the capture and destruction of Dubb (Medal with Clasp)-
Ser^^ed also in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857, ^^^ ^^s wounded at the action of Timmoor Ghaut (mentioned
in despatches. Medal).
2"^ Colonel A. K. Comber served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal).
25^ Colonel J. Burn served in the Burmese war in 1852-53, and was present at the storming of the Great Pagoda
at Rangoon (Medal with Clasp for Pegn). Served as Adjutant of his Regiment throughout the Sonthal cami:)aign
of 1855-56; and as Staff Officer to the Sasseram Field Force in 1858 (Medal).
2's Colonel F. C. Anderson served with the force under General Wheeler in the Punjaub campaign of i848-4(>
(Medal). Also in the Indian mutiny campaign in 1857-58 (Medal).
2*2 Colonel E. Dandridge served in the PunjauVi campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Served also in the Indian mutiny
campaigns of 1857-59; was Staff Officer to Colonel Sliorcr at Julpigoree when the Native Cavalry mutinied at that
station, and also during the operations against the Chittagong and Dacca rebels; commanded a movable column
in Bundlccnnd and was engaged in repeated expeditions against the rebel leaders Dow let Smgh and Burgore Singh
from October 1859 to March i860 (Medal).
21** Colonel I. F. MacAndrew served in the Indian mutin.y campaign as Military Secretary and Aide de Camp to
Br.General MacGrcgor, the Military Commissioner with the Gooikha Force under Jung Bahadore, and was present
at the capture of Goruckpore. passage of the Gogra, siege and capture of Lucknow (Medal with Clasp).
2*' Colonel R. Barter served as Adjutant 75th Regt. throughout the Indian mutiny campaign of 1857-58, and was
present at the battle of Budlee ke Serai (severelj' wounded), siege storm and capture of Delhi, including the six
days' fighting in the streets, where he commanded the remnant of his Regiment for nearly 48 hours, all senior to
him having been killed or disabled. Served with Greathed's Column in pursuit, and present at the action of Bolund-
shur, affairs of AU.yghur and Akerabad, and battle of Agra. With Sir Hope Grants Column at Canoge, during the
advance on Cawnpore; crossed into Oude and present at Maharajgunge, and skirmish near the Alumbagh. With
the Aiumbagh Garrison, and at the relief of Lucknow by Lord Clyde. Present with the force under Sir James Out-
ram at the Alumbagh until 14th Feb. 1858, and constantly engaged repelling the enem^-'s attacks. Commanded two
Ressallahs of Irregular Cavalry in the advance into Rohilcund and re-occupation of Bignour (Medal with two Clasps).
Served as Brigadier General in command ofthe ist Brigade of Sir Donald Stewart's Division in the Afghan war of
1878-80, including the surrender of Candahar and Khelat-i-Ghilzie and the occupation of Candahar till March 1880.
Was present in the advance to Ghuznee and Cabul, and in the engagements at Ahmed Kheyl and XJrzoo and in the
subsequent operations in tbe Logar Valley and aljout Cabul till Aug. 1880, when he was compelled by sickness to
resign bis command (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp, and CS.).

the 19th March (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp for Pegu). Served also in the Indian mutiny campaign

vicinity and capture of Rangoon (mentioned in despatches, Medal). Served as Senior Commissai'iat Officer and
Payma'ster of the Nepaulese Auxiliary Force itnderJung Bahadorfrom Dec. 1S57 to June 1858, and was present at
the recapture of Goruckpore, capture of the Fort of Julapore, siege and capture of Lucknow (twice mentioned in
despatches. Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
292 Colonel R. Murray served the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49, including the battles of Sadoolapore, Chillian¬
wallah, and Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps).

presentat the destruction of Chingalee and Sittana, and commanded the jn-esent ist Bengal Native Infantry at the
