and capture of ilagdala (Medal).
ii>* Ma.ior Samuel E. Wood served with the 93rd Highlanders in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the
relief t)f Lucknow by Lord Clyde (severely wounded), battle of Cawnpore on 6th Dec. 1857, siege and capture
of Lucknow, attack on the Fort of Rewah, action of AUigunge, and capture of Bareilly (Medal with two Clasps).
W5 Captain Caine served on the North-West Frontier during the Indian mutiny in 1857-59 (Medal).
"» Major Balders served with the King's Dragoon Guards in the Zulu war of 1879 (Medal with Clasp).
1"* Captain Ward served in the Ashanti war of 1873-4, including the defence of Fommanah (Medal with Clasp).
"" Captain John Brown served with the 17th Lancers throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the
afifaira of Bulganak and M'Kenzie's Farm, battles of Alma, Balaklava (severely wounded and horse killed), and
Tchernaya, siege and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, and Turkish Medal). Served in the campaign
in Central India in 1858-59, and was present at the action of Burode (Medal). Served with the 17th Lancers as
Paymaster in the Zulu war of 1879.
1'^ Captain Bromfleld served in New Zealand during General Chute's campaign of 1866 (Medal).
"' Captain Webb commanded the Ladder Party at the assault of Beyt on 6th October, and served with the
Okamundel Field Force in the operations before Dwarka till nth Nov. 1859.
11" Mr. Burgess served in the latter part of the Kafli- war of 1878. Served also in the operations against Sekukuni
in J878 and in 1879, in the latter case as Chief Paymaster of the forces employed (Medal with Clasp).
118 Mr. C. F. H. Beardmore served in the Ashanti war of 1873-4, including the action of Essaman and battle of
Amoaful (mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp). Has received the Bronze Medal of the Royal Humane
Society for saving the life of a native Coolie from drowning during the Ashanti campaign in 1873.
'2' Major Leet embarked for the Gold Coast with the 2nd Battalion 23rd Fusiliers in ,873 (Ashanti Medal).
1** Major Macartney, late a Captain in the 17th Lancers, was present with a Squadron of the 13th Light Dragoons
at Kumool and in the action of Zorapore, i8th Oct. 1839. Served with the 17th Lancers in the Crimea from the 20th
June to 14th July and from Sept. to Nov. 1855, including the siege of Sebastopol and battle of the Tchernaya (Medal
with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
1*' Captain Murphy served in the 52nd Light Infantry with the Punjaub Movable Column during the Indian
mutiny in 1857-58 (Medal).
IS" Mr. Gleig served throughout the Zulu war of 187j, and was present in the engagements at Zungin Nek,
Kambula Hill, and Ulundi (Medal with Clasp).
'31 Captain Lloyd served with the 2nd Battalion 60th Rifles in the Afghan War of 1S78-80, and took part
in the advance on and occupation of Candahar and Khelat-i-Ghilzie. Accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the
march to Candahar, and was present at the battle of Candahar (Medal with Clasp, and Bronze Decoration),
1^^ Captain Fleury served in the New Zealand war of 1863-65, ani was present at the repulse of the enemy's
attack on the Camp at Nukumaru (Medal).
IS' Captain Riddell served with the 70th Regiment in the New Zealand war of 1863-65, including operations in
the provinces of Taranaki and Waikato (Medal).
1'^ Captain O'Brien served in the New Zealandwarin 1864-65, including expeditions in the province of Taranaki,
destroying many Pahs and fortified villages (Medal).
1^' Major Howard served with the Soih Regiment in the left attack during the Bhootan expedition of 1865 (Medal).
Served also in the Perak expedition in 1875-76 (Clasp). Served throughout the operations against Sekukuni in
1878, the Zulu war of 1879, and the operations against Sekukuni in 1879, and was present at the storming of the
stronghold (Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp),
i-'* Captain Dempster has been awarded the Royal Humane Society's Medal.
1^' Captain Humfrey served with the 19th Regiment in the Hazara campaign in 1868, including the expedition
against the tribes in the Black Mountain (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Jowaki campaign of 1877-78 (Medal
with Clasp).
1*" Captain Dewar served in the Zulu war of 1879, first with the 57th Regiment, being present at the action of
Gingindhlovu and relief of Bkowe, afterwards as Commandant of Fort Tenedoe, and finally as Staff Officer at
Fort Pearson (Medal with Clasp).
1*' Major Small served with the 20th Regiment in the Indian campaign in 1857-58, including the actions at
Chanda, Umeerpore, Sultanpore, siege and capture of Lucknow, and affairs of Churda and Fort of Musjeedia
(Medal with Clasps). Served with the 59th Regiment throughout the Afghan war of 1878-80, and took part in the
advance on and occupation of Candahar and Khelat-i-Ghilzie under Sir Donald Stewart, and in the operations in
the Logar Valley. Was present in the engagements at Ahmed Kheyl and Urzoo near Ghuznee. Accompanied Sir
Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar, and was present at the battle of Candahar in charge of the field
treasure chest (mentioned in despatches. Brevet of Major, Medal with two Clasps, and Bronze Decoration).
